Windows Central photo contest: Sunshine

Since I've spent the past week baking in the sunshine what better theme for the latest photo contest than that. It's something that we all get to see (sometimes, at least) and can lend itself to take some stunning photos in the right place at the right time of day. You'll no doubts do better than I did, but the shot above was captured at Silverstone as the sun began to drop over the pitlane.

So, that's the theme. Read on for the rules and regulations!

As with the last contest, we're splitting up announcing winners and setting up a new contest. The three winners from the previous contest, gaming, will be announced in a separate post tomorrow.

Oh, and we've got a great prize in store this week!

So, here's the run down for this week!

Rules for this week's contest

Rules are going to be as follows:

  • Picture should be taken on a Windows Phone
  • Picture must be uploaded to the contest thread (linked below)
  • Tell us what apps, phone, and anything else you used to create your image
  • Feel free to add a little back story, we want to know how the picture came to be
  • You must have used a valid email address to register here at Windows Central, so we know how to contact the winner
  • Only ONE entry per week per person

How to use Tapatalk to post images in the Windows Central forums

We've got a great walkthrough on how to do just that!

Prize

We've got a great prize for the winner this week. Up for grabs is a GoPro Hero (the one above.) While this model doesn't connect to your Windows Phone (or any other smartphone for that matter) it's a fantastic action camera with a ton of accessories available to make it a true go anywhere camera.

We'll pick a winner Saturday night (July 18) at 11:59 PM ET. Winners will be announced in a blog post following the contest and after that we'll contact the lucky person to arrange shipping the prize.

Quick PSA: We've set up dedicated sub-forum in the Windows Central forums to keep the photo contests in one location going forward. You should bookmark this page, so you never miss a contest.

Good luck and have fun!

  • I guess an all-white photo JPEG'd a few times would pass by as a submission.
  • Lol!
  • This is exactly what I wanted :))
A photo contest about sunshine and the winning prize as a gopro.
I hope I can make it with my HTC 8X,although a higher end monster like the 930 or 1520 will destroy my 8mp camera :')
    Anyway good luck to everyone!
  • It's about creativity, my 735 can beat any pro cam
  • Now I only need winning picture as my birthday (7/19) present awaits :)
  • Never participated before but will give it a try
  • Magic hour
  • Have a 1020 and I'm in Hawaii. Stay tuned.
  • I have a question, can it be a sunset or sunrise photo and does the sun have to present in the photo for it to count?
  • Lol.
  • How to use Tapatalk ? Link not opening in app!
  • But... I don't have a Windows phone yet. ...so unfair...
  • I thought they only say a thing like this about an iPhone.
  • Yeah yeah the contests are back...happy..even though I never win any of 'em..
  • Think its a little unfair tbh. Summer has been and gone now in Yorkshire. Finding the sun is more of a challenge in itself.
  • I live close to Yorkshire and I've had nothing but sun for the past week. I'm sure you'll be fine.
  • Boohoo - it's the middle of Winter in Australia! :P Although we don't have any shortage of sunny days - it was sunny and a frosty 14 C today :P Next week it'll be sunny and 18-19 C, which is still quite cold - in London that would mean running to the nearest park and wearing very little, but here it means wearing 2-3 layers of warm clothes and putting the heater on at night.
  • Silverstone was more gloomy but exciting with the rain.
  • Its about creativity and we will find who is the most creative and which phone to use for great pictures. Get your LUMIAS ready...
  • Shot @Barcelona GP ?
  • Cant enter photo contest :'(
Even followed the instructions, it didn't lead to mentioned page.

  • Tapatalk in NOT working!!!!
Tapping on the contests, it opens the Windowscentral page!!! Fix it!!!!
  • My first thought about that photo was it was a sunny day over a prison complex :P
  • So were you at Silverstone last week with a shot like that?
  • Taken a few years ago on my way to the gym in the early morning hours with my lumia 900. Strangely enough, I did not apply any effects other than the "auto correct" feature and I think it just came out great.
  • these photos were taken in Barbados (Rihanna land). This is my home country in the Caribbean. I had now came home from London and decided to go to my favourite hangout spot "The Boatyard" and visit the city; Bridgetown to clear my thoughts. With these pics, I felt peace. They are NOT taken with a Lumia, but they were taken with the Nokia N97. No  editing. I'm just posting through (hopeful) appreciation and to share what i think is beautiful. https://instagram.com/p/48QvTzE9AK/?taken-by=roberthall22 https://instagram.com/p/48Qlsvk9AD/?taken-by=roberthall22 https://instagram.com/p/48PIuIE9N3/?taken-by=roberthall22   *admins im not entering the competition and i tried to upload from tapatalk...no photo contest section. please feel free to edit and embed the pics from the link. thanks!
