The Windows Phone game Apex is today's myAppFree Deal

Just a quick detour from all the activities at the Microsoft New York Event to bring you today's myAppFree Deal. It is Apex, an interesting installment to the endless runner genre of Windows Phone games where you have to guide a robot up an endless maze, trying to stay one step ahead of a rising flow of lava.

The game has four episodes to master and two difficulty levels to keep you challenged. Game play has simple controls and the pace of the game will keep you on your toes.

Regularly priced at $.99, you can pick up Apex through the myAppFree Deal for free. The deal will be in place for twenty-four hours and if you are in the market for a fun arcade game that isn't very complicated, now your chance to save a little along the way.

Apex starts your robot out the base level with each of the four episodes and the lava isn't very far away. On-screen controls are basic and include two directional arrows, along with an A and B button to control your jumps and special actions (e.g. placing bombs).

Apex

The goal of the game is simple. Run your robot up the platform maze and avoid getting consumed by the rising lava. You have a host of power-ups that will be placed along the maze to give your robot a fighting chance. Double jumps will send your robot higher but consume energy that can be replenished with some of the power-ups you will run across.

Apex

Bombs can be planted to blast concrete blocks that restrict your movements and machine guns are scattered about to slow your robot down. The higher you climb, the more challenging the platforms become to navigate across and the lava seems to rise a little faster. One wrong move will end your robot's day.

In just tinkering with Apex for a short time, it comes across as an entertaining time waster of a game for your Windows Phone. Normally priced at $.99, you can pick up Apex for free through the myAppFree Deal. If you give Apex a try, let us know what you think of the game and remember to rate the game in the Windows Phone Store to give the developer a little feedback.
