The Gunk from developer Image & Form and publisher Thunderful Games now has a release date. It's headed exclusively to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC on Dec. 16, 2021. The Gunk is also launching day one into Xbox Game Pass.

While the team previously announced that the game would be arriving at some point in Dec. 2021, we now have an exact date, which the team shared as part of an overall presentation from Thunderful Games on Wednesday.

This third-person adventure sees two friends, Rani and Becks, working to clean mysterious gunk off of a planet while solving puzzles and restoring the harmony of nature. Accompanying the announcement of an official release date, the developers shared a new overview video, giving players a more in-depth look at what's in store, narrated by Fiona Nova, the voice actor behind Rani.

The Gunk is now coming just a few days after the global launch of 343 Industries' Halo Infinite, which has free-to-play multiplayer, while the campaign is launching into Xbox Game Pass.
