If you've ever been in a one-on-one call with someone in Teams and were hoping to rope another set of colleagues into the chat via a call merge, you're in luck. Microsoft is bringing call merging to Teams on desktop. As can be seen on the feature's Microsoft 365 roadmap listing (via OnMSFT), it's rolling out right now with an April 2021 release date attached, meaning by the end of this month you should be all set to merge.
Here's the 365 roadmap's description of the feature:
Call Merge gives end users the capability to merge their active unheld 1-1 call into another 1-1 call or another group call. This applies to Teams VOIP calls and PSTN calls.
It's unclear when this feature will lose its status as a desktop exclusive, but when it does, we'll be sure to let you know.
In related news, Microsoft Teams will soon let you lock meetings, thereby keeping people from joining or attempting to join. And Teams for macOS now allows users to share system audio in meetings, which is another piece of positive news.
