What you need to know

  • An Age of Empires 2 Town Center is competing on the LEGO Ideas website.
  • It currently has more than 900 supporters and needs your vote to continue.
  • 10,000 supporting votes are required to enter the review process.
  • The Town Center can be rebuilt into Barracks, Archery Range, or Dock.

If you play as much Age of Empires 2 as some of us do around here, you might start seeing buildings and units bleed over into other games and activities. Who hasn't tried recreating in something like Minecraft some of the legendary structures from the timeless real-time strategy (RTS) game?

Although it's been a few years since LEGO crossed my path, it's difficult as an Age of Empires fan to not get excited about a Town Center gaining support on the LEGO Ideas website. It's no doubt been helped along thanks to a tweet by Age of Empires Head of Player Engagement Emma Bridle, but it's already less than 100 votes away from its next milestone due late 2021.

The design comes from LEGO Ideas member "artizan." It's immediately recognizable as a European Town Center, complete with blue flags, Scout Cavalry, and two villagers assigned to a farm and mining camp. Perhaps the best part about this build is that it can be disassembled and reassembled as a Barracks, Archery Range, or Dock using all the same LEGO. However, it doesn't seem as though the Scout Cavalry is going to be able to turn into a fishing ship.

If you'd like to support this design on LEGO Ideas, just head to the website and click the Support button near the top-right corner of the page. It does require an account, but it only takes a few seconds to create. Hopefully this awesome design can be realized; it would make a great corner piece to an Age of Empires 2 gaming PC setup or as a jumping off point for more Age of Empires LEGO.
