What you need to know

  • AMD's 3rd Gen Ryzen 3000 Series processors are now on sale.
  • Options range from the £95 Ryzen 3 3200G (opens in new tab) up to the £480 Ryzen 9 3900X (opens in new tab).
  • The processors are available at numerous UK-based outlets, including Amazon and Overclockers UK.

AMD's Ryzen 3000 Series processors are now officially available to order with prices starting at £95. These new processors are based on AMD's new Zen 2 7nm architecture, offering a sizable performance increase and reduced power draw over their predecessors, even competing against more pricey Intel offerings.

One of the big new features arriving with the new set of chips is support for PCIe 4.0, which unlocks incredibly fast speeds when paired with new SSDs that take advantage of it and motherboards with the new X570 chipset. This generation also marks the debut of the Ryzen 9 family, which is meant to compete with Intel's Core i9 series on raw performance. Other improvements found in Ryzen 3000 processors include:

  • Double floating point with a redesigned engine.
  • Double the amount of cache.
  • 15 percent IPC (instructions per-clock) uplift.

  • Heya! Just as a heads up, the 3200G doesn't use the 7nm Zen 2 architecture , it uses the 12nm Zen+ architecture so unfortunately it's not going to have all of the benefits you listed that the other new 3000 series CPUs do. It's still got a nice little performance bump for both the CPU and it's integrated graphics over the 2200G tho!
