Best ASUS Motherboards in 2022

ASUS has been in the motherboard-making business for decades, offering affordable and premium options for PC system builders. It can be tough to decide between various motherboard options even if you've already chosen a processor so we've rounded up some of the best motherboards from ASUS.
Best AMD
With support for AMD Ryzen 2 processors, NVMe M.2, USB 3.1 Gen2, and super-fast LAN, the ROG Strix X470-F is a stunning motherboard. You've also got sound support for overclocking, good VRMs, and solid thermals under load. The I/O shield is also pre-mounted, which assists with installation slightly.
Budget AMD
The ROG Strix B450-F has some of the excellent features offered with our top AMD ASUS pick, including NVMe storage support, multiple ports, pre-installed I/O shield, and fast RAM, but instead comes with a more affordable AMD chipset. The B450 can only handle 2667 MHz RAM and doesn't allow for Scalable Link Interface (SLI).
Ripping threads
When Ryzen processors simply do not offer enough power, you need to step up to Threadripper. These CPUs are vastly more expensive and capable, but do require a unique socket and are not compatible with AM4 motherboards. This ASUS board has it all, including support for 128GB of RAM, plenty of storage options ports, overclock capabilities, as well as solid VRMs.
Best Intel
If you plan on going with a 9th Gen Intel CPU, ASUS has you covered with the excellent Republic of Gamers Z390-H Gaming motherboard, which has everything you need, including dual M.2 slots for storage, USB 3.1 Gen2 ports, enhanced system overclock stability, and high-quality components. Like the AM4 motherboards, the pre-mounted I/O shield makes it easy to install.
Budget Intel
Designed with both 8th and 9th Gen processors in mind, this ASUS motherboard has everything you need for a stable system build without the fancy lights and unnecessary clutter for most owners. You still get to enjoy hardware safety features like LANGuard and overvoltage protection, while taking full advantage of M.2 storage speeds, and USB 3.1 Gen2 ports.
X performance
Fancy trying out the fancy Intel X-Series processors? You'll need an LGA2066 socket motherboard and the TUF X299 Mark 2 is an excellent example. You've got dual M.2 sockets for speedy storage to match the powerful processor, support for 128GB RAM, even USB 3.1 Type-C for accessories. The 5-year warranty from ASUS has added peace of mind.
