Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person action game where you fight a variety of monsters. The world has been thrown into chaos by an ancient evil from another dimension. As one of the last remnants of humanity, you set out alone or alongside up to two other survivors to face down hordes of deadly enemies. The end-goal is to carve a foothold, rebuild, and retake the world.

In your quest, you'll come across a variety of weapons, but anything that fires fast should be your best friend. The Repeater Pistol can be upgraded several times to do an insane amount of damage. If you equip it with the Hot Shot Mod, then you have a formidable weapon that can even be used against towering enemies like The Ent.

For a secondary weapon, I would recommend any shotgun. The Coach Gun is great, and if you couple it with the Seed Caller Mod, you can call even summon a creature to fight by your side. The secondary weapon doesn't feel as important as the primary.

If you're lucky enough to find the dungeon which gives you the Beam Rifle as a reward, you'll have an even easier time. This weapon shoots a continious bolt of corrosive damage which can be change to fire damge with the Hot Shot Mod. While the Coach Gun is great for small areas, this is great over longer distances.

Towards the middle of the game, you'll come across a potential ally known as the Undying King. If you kill him, you can get a sniper rifle called Ruin. it behaves more like a pulse rifle. This gun gives you the ability to revive once after you've been killed. If you're having a hard time staying alive, be sure to give Ruin a go.

Remnant: From the Ashes Xbox One review — Is it worth buying?

When it comes choosing a melee weapon, I would recommend a slashing weapon rather than a blunt hammer. Slashing weapons have a wide range of attack and seem to be faster. Frequently, you'll be surrounded by weak enemies, but their numbers pose a threat. Slicing them with the help of a machete is much better than trying to kill them with a hammer one at a time.
