We started off today with a number of apps updated for both Windows Phone 7 and 8, and it seems we'll be ending the evening that way too (depending on where you reside). Ragdoll Run, Access Point, Blink and Battery Level for WP8 have all been bumped. It's certainly been a busy day of publishing before the weekend hits Microsoft and developers.
So what's new in this collection of apps?
Nokia access point
This mysterious system app continues to be updated by Nokia, but we never quite know what the company is implementing or fixing. All we know is Nokia is working its magic and more updates can only mean a better experience for consumers. The app itself enables one to configure access points and how the Windows Phone connects to a desired network.
You can force check an update by viewing access point on the Windows Phone Store.
Battery Level for WP8
This Windows Phone 8 app (note the name) is a handy tool for those who wish to keep on top of battery life and usage on their handset. We previously looked at Battery Level for WP8 when it was bumped to version 1.1 last year, but now the app has just hit 1.4. Here's what the changelog reports:
- Localized to Russian, Polish, Hebrew
- Bug fixes
Not the largest update in the world, but still a new release. You can download Battery Level for WP8 from the Windows Phone Store for $0.99.
BLINK
Microsoft Research pushed out this app earlier this month for Windows Phone 8, which is a lens to help capture photos before completely pressing down the shutter button, etc. to get that perfect shot. BLINK has since been updated to version 1.1 within a matter of days and introduces the following:
- Fixed edit bug for certain phones
- Fixed crashing issue for certain Lumia 820s
- Added tap to select
You can download BLINK from the Windows Phone Store.
Ragdoll Run
We've not touched on Ragdoll Run before. The highly popular game for Windows Phone is a cute, 3D puzzle arcade game which sports addictive gameplay with online leaderboard support. The main objective is to have your ragdoll run as far as possible. So what's new in 1.8?
The latest release sports the following:
- Added Live tile when Ragdoll Run is pinned to the start screen on the phone
- Updated abilities for Dixie and Zipper to include all Power-ups
- Changed the unlock criteria for Cookie
But that's enough text, be sure to download Ragdoll Run from the Windows Phone Store for $0.99 - a free version is available.
Thanks, Atif, for tipping us on these updates!
