The Culling launches into the Xbox Game Preview program

The Xbox Game Preview Program now has another game on its roster with The Culling. The game is now available as part of the Xbox early access program, joining its Early Access status on Steam.

In The Culling, you compete against other players in a sort of brutal game show. You're left to fight for survival against other players in a battle royale of sorts. You have 25 minutes to hunt down and take out other players with an arsenal of weapons. The big twist: there is no respawning at all; once you're dead, you're dead.

The Culling definitely sounds like it could be a good time if you're into competitive online games with consequences. For now, you can grab The Culling for $25 or try it for free on the Xbox Store. If PC is you're more partial to PC, the game is up for grabs on Steam as well.

  • This looks like a pretty crappy game.
  • It's the kind of game that sounds really awesome on paper, but never really pans out IMO
  • If you die in the first minute, can you not join another game or do you have to go drink Fresca and eat Cheetos for 24 minutes?
  • No. You can leave
  • Project Knoxville from Press Play had a comparable concept and looked promising. It's a shame Microsoft shuttered the studio. It was one of the best first-party studios they had.
  • Constant server issues since release. Played with bots in the's OK. Needs a lot of work but not bad.
