The 3 best (worst?) fidget spinner apps for Windows 10

This is our roundup of fidget spinner apps for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile, and it is quite possibly the most important app roundup we've ever created. Forget those forget banking apps, and forget Pokémon Go — we have fidget spinners.

If you don't know what a fidget spinner is consider yourself lucky, it's the latest toy craze taking the world by storm. Just search "fidget spinner" on YouTube if you don't believe me.

There are currently three fidget spinner apps in the Windows 10 store, and here's what you can expect from each of them.

Covfefe Spinner

Covfefe Spinner is currently in beta and is one of the first fidget spinner apps to grace our favorite app store. "Covfefe" refers to the "interesting" typo made by the U.S. president recently, which somehow became a minor meme of its own. With Covfefe Spinner, you get two cool and craaaaaazy memes for the price of one. (And that price is free! Is this real life?)

Covfefe Spinner works best on Windows 10 tablets and phones, though if you're a bit of a masochist you can also spin using a mouse on PC. Simply swipe or drag on one side of the spinner, and BOOM, you have your very own virtual spinner. But wait, there's more!

Covfefe Spinner also tracks the RPM (revolutions per minute), so you can challenge yourself to spin even faster. The faster you swipe, the higher your RPM, which also improves the rate at which you earn coins. And it doesn't matter whether you're a fan of counter-clockwise or regular old clockwise, I'm ecstatic to report both are supported.

You can use the coins to buy different colors for your virtual spinner, and there are dozens of options. If you're a spin-maniac, you should be able to unlock every color in no time at all.

Covfefe Spinner is available for free on Windows 10 devices and works best on those with touch screens. It's supported by ads, but hey, what's an ad or two for one of the only fidget spinner apps on Windows 10? Jump on this incredible app using the link below, and tell us how amazed you are in the comments.

Finger Spinner

Next up, we have the creatively named "Finger Spinner" from "Real Gamers," and believe it or not. it actually functions like a real, genuine game.

In Finger Spinner, you have to strategically spin the spinner, utilizing a finite amount of spins. The longer you're able to keep it spinning, the more points you earn, which can be spent on upgrades that increase your spin potency.

I am, however, disturbed to report that Finger Spinner only supports anti-clockwise spinning. It doesn't react to the direction of your swipes, which is frankly a huge disappointment, making it very almost literally unplayable. However, if you are a mono-direction spinner, you'll find yourself right at home with Fidget Spinner! It's also free and but available only for Windows 10 Mobile devices. There's a clone of this app called Fidget Spinner UWP (opens in new tab) that works across all devices, but it contains nasty browser-based pop-up ads.

Spinner 3D

If you hate spinning in 2D, this is the app for you. Spinner 3D leverages Unity 3D tools to power its app, but unfortunately, 3D graphics don't make up for the bland, non-interactive spinning.

It would be more accurate to call this a "fidget spinner simulator," because you don't actually do the spinning yourself (what a travesty). Instead, you simply press a button, and the app simulates 3D spinning for you. You can rotate the model of the 3D spinner with touch controls, but despite the app's simplicity, the spinner is incredibly laggy even on my Lumia 950 XL.

You can shuffle through different spinner styles with a quick tap, and even share a screenshot with your meme-loving friends. While the app supports both clockwise and counter-clockwise spinning, you can't really enjoy your directional preference because the frame rate is so low that the fidget spinner ends up looking like an ugly blur. Annoying ads Interesting videos pop-up in the middle of the spinning with totally unobnoxious music to inform you of other crappy products amazing apps you should never totally download.

Spinner 3D offers an in-app purchase to remove its ads, if watching a non-interactive, laggy 3D fidget spinner is something you desperately need in your life. Or at least it says it offers an in-app purchase to remove ads; the link to the store is actually broken. What a shame.

Actually, forget everything I just said. Nobody should ever download this app. It is garbage. Do not press the download button. Seriously, I hate this app so much.

Spinning to a close

And there you have it! These are the best (and, thankfully, only) fidget spinner apps in the Windows 10 Store!

Sure, they might be shallow attempts to make money based on a fleeting trend (much like this article), but hey, listen, we're all Windows 10 Mobile users here, and beggars can't be choosers. If you're feeling the burn from lacking Pokémon Go, Snapchat, and general honest to goodness support from Microsoft, perhaps these apps will sooth your pain for a few moments.

Do you love fidget spinners as much as we do? Let us know in the comments. (Please? I'm lonely.)

  • As an autist, I'm going to leave this right here. http://www.thinkingautismguide.com/2017/05/what-fidget-spinners-fad-reve...
  • @hopmedic, bookmarked.
  • also good https://www.windowscentral.com/e?link=https2F%2Fclick.linksynergy.co...
  • First, I don't want to offend anyone. Second, this "toy" for autists is so "cool" that people tend to auto diagnostic themselves as autists so they can have an excuse to play with this. What they have is simply laziness.
  • Lol and writer of beyblade anime, is working on a new anime based on life of a professional fidget player(yes that's what he said, professional).
  • Ever do something, and think to yourself, I can't believe people are paying me for this? I feel that is what Jez felt writing this roundup.
  • Omg, nice one!! 😂
  • To be fair... this was my idea, something I did hyped on coffee in the middle of the night. I'm weird.
  • save me
  • "but hey, listen, we're all Windows 10 Mobile users here"... Jez, didn't you switch to android with the keyONE? :D
  • Nope! Just was trying it out. It's a nice phone, great battery life and keyboard, but Android sucks. Windows 10 Mobile FTW.
  • Henceforth, you are the leader of the Resistance against the iDroid T1000. :D
  • Please don't.
  • Jez pls. 🙏
    .
    It's actually funny. Lol. 😂
  • I saw a few tweets about 2-3 weeks ago, about people abusing Jez on twitter for the most silly reasons! And wow, Jez tweets back like a king every time. It's really fun the way he handles all those trolls.
    .
You lonely Jez? This is a cool community!! Let's talk. 😁
  • ahahah, I'm lonely when I write about fidget spinners...
  • 😂 Jez 🤦
  • Windows 10 meets autism
  • And I though Windows developers were smarter than that, but whatever ok. Ironically interesting article though
  • What is the point of this app? No teenager would be seen dead with a Windows Phone.
  • No longer Mark, teens will now flock to Windows Phone. Who needs Snapchat when you can spin your life away.
  • Oh how ridiculous. When I want to watch something spin, I just install the next build.
  • Haha! The best comment so far XD!
  • That's really funny 😁
  • That's really funny 😁
  • I entertain myself during the install by tricking my eyes into seeing it spin one way, then the other. (It works, because the cos are really just two alternating images.)
  • Yeah, I do that too. Whenever I blink it appears to "spin" in the other direction.
  • Laughing my ass off!!! Jez the sarcasm!
  • 😅
  • Perhaps the most important article ever posted on this site. Well done sir.
  • Really this is huge! Makes all other articles seem silly.
  • Well, it's a notch above the VR porn articles and the iOS/Android promo pieces.
  • Okay, I laughed! Thanks for this Jez!
  • Jez, I only wrote Covfefe Spinner because of your tweet(s) the weekend before last. ;) Which is why Jez mode is comming in the XBox edition that should hit the stores tonight. My daughter reads the name as "coffee" spinner.
  • aahaha Jez Mode? I'm so stoked for this. Please make it as lame as possible.
  • wait till you get version 1.1.16.0 (Should be synced in full to the servers by tommorro at 1PM Central Time (So, 8PM Berltn time?))... Jez mode & Wasteland mode are free in that version. SO DON'T USE COVFEFE TO UNLOCK THOSE MODES!
  • Man, you are one cool Dev. PLEASE consider converting Duncan MacDonald's legendary Advanced Lawnmower Simulator for Windows Phone. If anything symbolises the app gap best, the missing ALS is it.
  • Great article.
  • I can't wait until the next fad comes along and these things are long gone. There's a guy who works in our office and sits right behind me that has one of these things. Unfortunately, the one he got isn't completely silent. I'm sure none or very few of them are. It's almost as annoying as someone who fidgets by tapping or clicking a pen constantly.
  • You could always spray it with some WD-40 or WL grease. Two benefits. 1. Likely stop the noise 2. Likely stop the spinning when he/she sprays lubricant all over themselves.
  • I tried WD-40, it reduced the speed of my spinning. :(
  • Best article I've read all day.  And this is even after Apple's WWDC.
  • I can't believe i just spent a few minutes reading an article about fidget spinner apps. But after seeing it had 30 comments, i had to see what the hype was about! Funny article. When there's no articles about new builds/ a fix to the broken People app/ why i should still consider moving to an iPhone, this will have to do. Thanks for the entertainment !
  • Wait! People are still playing Pokémon Go?
  • My neighborhood is still being patrolled by pokemon hunters, so I'd assume so.
  • Yup. The world's gone to heck.
  • Cool
  • I thought these spinners were dumb until my son handed me a spinner last week. Now I can't stop playing with the stupid thing. THIS IS A CRY FOR HELP!!
  • I got one off Amazon on a whim... :( it's addictive.
  • Funny article. Thanks for the smile 😄
  • 90s: I bet we'll have flying cars in the future 2017:
  • Why is this making me so happy?
  • "very almost literally unplayable" - LOL
  • Regardless of whether you like spinners or not - brilliant article 😊
  • this is not what we menat when we said more apps...
  • And they said Windows Phone has no apps.
  • You had me at Best (Worst). Wonderful article. Spin Responsibly. Don't Spin and Drive.
  • Hahahaha! Covfefe spinners; o)
  • It made me laugh too.
  • I like the fact that Covfefe Spinner has a "Jez mode". Absolutely amazing!
  • I was at a party this weekend for my God mother's birthday.  All of the kids, except my nephews, had these spinners.  I've been actively avoiding their requests to buy them one, regardless of the cost.  So, just to see... I asked the kids why they have them.  One girl (~8yo) said, "they help you concentrate at school."  I looked at her dad and walked away while telling my nephews, "NOPE!"  FML
  • Don`t download? LOL! ROFL!
  • fidget spiners are great anf you can find several models of fidget spinners in kaplanmarket website.
