Former Playdead CEO reveals dark new sci-fi project called Somerville

Dino Patti, the former head of Limbo and Insider creator Playdead, has revealed the first project from Jumpship, the new studio he recently helped co-found. Called Somerville, the new title is teased in a short trailer that served to set the mood for the game while keeping everything else mum.

The teaser definitely doesn't give us much to. go off of. However, on its website, Jumpship describes Somerville as "a Sci-Fi Action Adventure that chronicles the lives of key individuals in the wake of a global catastrophe."

Limbo and Inside were both extremely well received, regarded for their moodiness and unique storytelling. We'll have to see if Somerville can recapture that success, but having Patti behind an original IP developed by Jumpship co-founder Chris Olsen certainly sounds promising.

  • The audio from that trailer through my speakers was so cool!
  • This will be a 100% buy for me.
  • 100% in as well. Track record speaks for itself.
  • Yeah, everything about this tickles me in all the right places.
  • I liked Limbo and loved Inside, so this definitely has my interest. I wonder how well Playdead will fare in the future without him. My hope is that both studios continue to create superb games.
