What you need to know

  • Forza Horizon 4 is a racing game from Playground Games.
  • The title is part of Xbox Game Pass like every modern Microsoft Exclusive.
  • The game recently passed 12 million players.
  • You can purchase Xbox Game Pass through Amazon (opens in new tab).

A few weeks ago, we reported that Forza Horizon 4 had been played by over 10 million gamers. Well, it looks like the figure has skyrocketed since June. According to a report by FullThrottle Media, now the number stands at over 12 million. The game is available through Xbox Game Pass, so that's probably where new users are coming from.

The outlet said the following. What's surprising is that even after all this time, over 4 million gamers play the game each month.

Over 12 million drivers have experienced the shared open-world of beautiful, historic Britain in Forza Horizon 4. The news was shared by Jon Knoles, Design Director at Turn 10 Studios on the latest edition of the Forza Monthly broadcast show. In addition to this landmark figure, he also revealed that more than 4 million players engage with the game on a monthly basis.

Usually, racing games aren't that popular. However, through Xbox Game Pass, even those who may have hesitated on spending $60 for Forza Horizon 4 have the ability to test it out. The game is a lot of fun and has wide appeal, but only by playing it can you discover that.

  • Of course, recently being added to Game pass for PC has made it acquire lots of new players, me included
  • The bigger question is do you like it and would you play forza 5 when it comes out?
  • Long time Horizon fan, but I won't be pre ordering the fifth one. FH3 was the pinnacle, 4 is just a cluttered mess of irrelevant features and content locked behind limited time challenges, unlikely to be seen again. Will be watching plenty raw gameplay before buying next time round.
  • Horizon 3 was just a game though. Horizon 4 is a game as a service with a constantly engaging world full of real players.
  • I loved 3, but 4 just performs so much better on my 1050ti Laptop, so after I played it a while on gamepass, I bought it, I don't even regret getting the Ultimate Edition. What I do hate is that with 3, you got double the money won with Ultimate, you don't get that with 4.
  • That's just journalist jargon, it's still no more than a game. Yes, franchises have to evolve and there are some great additions, Forzathon live is a promising concept for example, and I'm eagerly awaiting more stories. I don't know if the MS overlords have pushed their own ideas since PG sold their soul or if they've simply lost their way, but it is rapidly becoming Fortnite on wheels and pandering to a completely different community.
  • For me, I will purchase 5. There are no other racing games that comes close. It does have alot going on, but that adds to its "lasting" factor. The number of cars, graphics, events and customizable events makes it #1.
  • I'm with you on that horizon for me has set the bench mark for open world racing games and for me perfer 4 to 3 due to the weather and seasons as well as driving round the UK is more fun than Australia imo.
  • Yes I enjoy playing it, and will most likely get FH5.
  • I'm not a true racing game gamer. Mario Kart was the only game I play but I'm not interested in the IP anymore.
Forza horizon is the only racing game I play nowadays (esp love the Hot Wheels and Lego expansions, you know, to experience somethings we cannot experience in real life).
  • ofc you're no longer interested in Mario kart. You're a MS fanboy now. Need to promote MS products.
