How to clean the HP Spectre 13 Folio's leather case

What separates the HP Spectre 13 Folio from other devices on the market is that material HP used: leather. It definitely makes a statement out in the wild, but it can be annoying to clean. In this guide I'm going to walk you through how to keep your leather-touting HP Spectre 13 clean, using nothing more than a single product and a spare few minutes.

How to clean the HP Spectre Folio 13 leather

  1. Ensure the HP Spectre Folio 13 is turned off.
  2. Fetch a clean lint-free cloth (microfiber cloths work just fine).
  3. Gently wipe down all leather surfaces with the cloth, applying a small amount of water to the cloth for marks and tougher stains.
  4. If you still have marks that refuse to budge, try adding a little soap into the mix.

That's it! We're all done and your leather should be in pristine condition. You'll want to give the leather a regular wipe down, depending on how frequently the PC is used. As noted by HP, it's important you avoid the use of cleaning products containing substances such as ethyl alcohol, ammonia, chlorine, acetone, turpentine, or other mineral spirits.

AmazonBasics microfiber cleaning cloths get the job done well without damaging the leather. As is the case with leather in general, it'll fade and change color in time, which is something to bear in mind when prepping the laptop for cleaning and checking for wear and tear.

What makes a microfiber cloth the tool to use for keeping leather looking fresh is the ability to pick up dirt and other substances without scratching or ruining the finish. They're also incredibly easy to use on not only the HP Spectre Folio 13, but other gadgets and products and don't cost much to replace.

HP surprised everyone with the announcement of the Spectre Folio 13, which looks unlike notebook PCs we're used to seeing. Packing the latest components, it's a capable PC that looks super-premium. There's also a version of the Spectre Folio 13 with an Intel Core i7 processor and 4G LTE if you don't mind spending a little more.
