HTC Trophy on Verizon finally official: $149.99 on May 26th

Our long national nightmare of watching dozens of HTC Trophy leaks are finally at an end: Verizon and HTC have made the device officialy official: it's coming out on May 26th for $149.99 with a 2-year contract and a $50 mail-in rebate (boo!). Specs are, well, no surprise at all to Trophy-waiters, HTC fans, or Windows Phone followers:

  • 1 GHz Snapdragon® processor
  • WVGA 3.8-inch touchscreen
  • Surround sound through SRS WOW HD™
  • 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • 720p HD video capture
  • 16 GB on-board storage
  • Wi-Fi connectivity: 802.11 b/g/n
  • Global ready - allowing customers to enjoy wireless voice and data service in more than 200 countries, with more than 125 with 3G speeds
  • HTC Hub-customization through downloadable applications that offer even more entertainment and productivity

Verizon and HTC are also looking to sweeten the pot (and perhaps make up for the silly mail-in rebate) by offering a free Xbox game (supposedly worth up to $60) if you buy before July 15th. Halo: Reach, Kinect Sports, and Lode Runner are all on the table.

Get'cher full press release after the break and let us know in the comments: are you going to pick one up?

  • lol i just sent you a email about this 10 mins ago
  • you lucky **** you get a game!!!
  • LOL!!!
  • Amen!
  • What will WPCentral writers do with their free time now that they don't have HTC Trophy rumor stories to write about? ;)
  • Well... there's still the AT&T HD7S still out there somewhere.
  • Mango leaks and app reviews I guess. I want to see the new phones.
  • One word: Nokia.
  • It's about F'n time, now If we can find the true, non-contract price on this phone, i'll be happy (Figure $400-450)
  • I will be at Verizon next Thursday to buy two of these....
  • No mention of an SLCD screen. Hopefully we get some clarity on that ASAP.
  • Since it wasn't mentioned in the press release it probably isn't there. Bummer...that was one cool feature that almost made it worth the wait.
  • From HTC the first batch of the Trophys had a LCD, every one after that was with the SLCD.Verizon does not even have it listed in their systems yet.
  • Yei! dumping BB... first order of 40+ phones... with maybe 300+ a few weeks after... if all goes good... 3,000+ in a few more BB's!(i'm an IT guy in a huge company, we were all waiting for this...)
  • Sure will if I can convince my job to get me one.
  • HTC Trophy will be available online at on May 26, and in Verizon Wireless Communication Stores on June 2. We will have to keep a eye on this.
  • wooooohoooo..about time. i'll be grabbing one asap for sure.
  • Congrats to Verizon customers! World phone, $199.99 upfront, $50 rebate (please folks be sure to mail this in!), and a free game - pretty good deal. Hope this sells well and hope users enjoy their experience. ***P.S. For those of you purchasing this, please post a review on Verizon's website (and or Amazon) - I know that I look at phone reviews, and since many folks shop online, your input would be beneficial for spreading the good word and making up for any lack of support one may get in the actual Verizon store.***
  • oh, and...the timing of the release, just wow! Two very high end Android devices will be released on May 26th (in store), and the Trophy won't be in store until June 2nd. Hopefully, there will be some promo materials in Verizon stores before May 26th so that people (average consumer) will know ahead of time that there will be another option to those Android devices just a week later.
  • About freaking time. Of course my new employer wants to give me a Palm. UGH!Now if VZW would only let me pre-order the device.
  • Next question; Does anyone know which build will this be running? Since we've had to wait this long, it'd be nice if the phone had 7392 pre-installed.
  • NODO is installed. (not sure of the build number) Just going off what I heard... and you know how reliable that can be. :)
  • I am going to bribe my local Best Buy to see if they can give it to me on Tuesday :-pUPDATE: Damn, didn't read the June 2nd street release date.
  • May 26th or June 2nd? I don't understand...
  • May 26th online, June 2nd in stores.
  • 85% sure I'll get one, but want to see a few hands-on reviews first. I don't like the small screen. After seeing the Gartner stats on sales it is understandable that Verizon viewed this phone as a low priority.
  • 3.8" is small now?? What is the world coming to...Personally, my max is 4", with 3.5-3.8 being the sweet spot.
  • Agreed. Wouldn't mind 4", but really enjoying my 3.8" Surround. Can reach the whole screen with one finger. IPhone is 3.5" and not many complaints from that camp. 3.8 to 4 is the sweet spot. Energy efficient and large enough for most tasks.
  • I hate to even go here considering everything it's taken just to get it released but...does anyone know if it'll ship with 7392
  • My question: This says 16GB. HTC site says the Trophy has 8GB. I have seen posts from people saying theirs has 8GB. (New Zealand/ Portugal).Hoping that Verizon did the good thing and got it upgraded!
