Microsoft is reportedly planning a major reorganization focused on cloud sales. According to Bloomberg, an announcement from Microsoft concerning the global reorganization could happen as soon as next week, following the end of the company's fiscal year today, June 30.

Microsoft said to be planning cloud-focused sales reorganization

From Bloomberg:

The restructuring is scheduled to be announced as soon as next week and will impact the Worldwide Commercial Business under Judson Althoff and Jean-Philippe Courtois' global sales and marketing group, the people said.

The shift, Bloomberg reports, will likely lead to job cuts, but will represent some of the "most significant" moves Microsoft's sales force has seen in years. The goal? To increase revenues in the quickly growing cloud business and better compete with Amazon.

The move isn't entirely surprising given the company's increased focus on the cloud in recent years. Microsoft's cloud businesses also make up an increasingly large part of its revenues, having powered solid growth in recent earnings reports.
