Where are all the Black Friday ROG Ally deals this year? — Here are the best Black Friday gaming handheld deals we've found

The original ROG Ally and ROG Ally X have gone on sale during every major sales event, including Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Prime Day, for the last couple of years.
However, for some reason, ROG Ally handhelds, including the new Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, aren't getting Black Friday 2025 discounts. However, the Legion Go S (SteamOS, Z2 Go) is currently at the lowest price it's ever been at $449.99 at Best Buy, which is less than the Xbox Ally.
If you are looking to get a Black Friday handheld deal, these are the best ones available right now.

This handheld runs SteamOS and comes with an AMD Ryzen Z2 Go chip, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD. Its display offers higher resolution and a higher refresh rate than Steam Deck along with Hall Effect joysticks that don't drift. It's perfect for playing classic PC games on Steam or emulating games.

This gaming handheld has an 8-inch touchscreen that supports Variable Refresh Rate and has a 120Hz refresh rate, BUT it has a faster Z1 Extreme processor, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage for $200 more. The device fits comfortably in the hand and runs the easy-to-navigate SteamOS. An early Black Friday deal drops this model of the Legion Go S to the lowest price we've ever seen.

The Steam Deck OLED models aren't on sale this Black Friday, however, you can snag the base Steam Deck LCD with 256GB at a discount right now. It runs SteamOS, a Linux-based operating system that offers an interface that feels more like a game console and gives access to your Steam library out of the box.

It's hardly a discount, but the cheapest place to get the white Xbox Ally is at Walmart, where it is 99¢ cheaper than most other retailers, including Best Buy. This device has an AMD Ryzen Z2 A chip with 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD. It's especially good for cloud gaming and playing less-intensive games like 2D pixel art titles and indie games.

This version of the Legion Go S handheld runs Windows and has a white casing, but otherwise, its design is very similar to the SteamOS version. It utilizes a Z1 Extreme processor, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD. It's capable of playing a wide range of PC games from simple indies to intense AAA titles. We gave it a lower score in our review and stressed that the high price didn't match the performance of the device. This deal fixes that issue, bringing it down to a much better price for what's on offer.

The Xbox Ally X released this year, but it, unfortunately, is not on sale anywhere so far this holiday season, but I figured I'd include a link to it for those who want to check it out. I'll keep an eye out and will report back if that changes. It's a powerful device that has an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip with 24GB RAM, and 1TB SSD. It can be used to play everything from casual games to compatible AAA games.

The Legion Go 2 also released this year, and represents premium gaming. However, it's also not on sale anywhere this Black Friday. Still, it is a truly standout handheld gaming PC, thanks to its detachable controllers, FPS mode, and relatively large 8.8-inch OLED display. There are two configurations, but this one has an AMD Z2 Extreme, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD.

Handheld gaming PC FAQ
Can handheld gaming PCs run modern AAA games smoothly?
Yes, but it depends on the handheld and its configuration or internal hardware for what kind of games it can run. If you want to play AAA games, you'll need to make sure you buy a more powerful handheld gaming PC.
Will Steam, Xbox Game Pass, or Epic Games library work on handheld gaming PCs?
Yes, but the experience could be different depending on the handheld you get. Some PC gaming handhelds run Windows while others run SteamOS. The devices that run Windows (Xbox Ally X, Legion Go 2, etc.) can easily access a wide range of gaming services out of the box. However, you'll need to do some work on the Steam Deck and Legion Go S (SteamOS) first before you can access more than just Steam.
For help with that, check out my guide on how to Decky Loader on Steam Deck.
Is the Legion Go S (SteamOS) a good handheld?
Yes, many people love the Legion Go S (SteamOS) since it offers similar performance to the Steam Deck, but offers a nicer screen and more ergonomic casing.
When is Black Friday 2025?
Black Friday 2025 is technically on Friday, November 28, 2025. However, various retailers have been introducing deals as early as a couple of weeks before then. As has been the case for several years, Black Friday deals will merge and give way to Cyber Monday deals.
When is Cyber Monday 2025?
Cyber Monday 2025 is Monday, December 1, 2025. Some Black Friday deals will continue through this event and will change in name only. However, several new Cyber Monday deals are likely to sprout up on that Monday and some will continue throughout the week.
