FAQ

What are read and write speeds?

Read and Write speeds rate the performance of an SSD (measured in megabytes per second or MB/s for short).

The higher these stats are, the faster an SSD will be able to register, save and load data stored within it. Not to mention, faster read and write speeds will help move files faster from an SSD onto a PC or home console, and vice versa.

What platforms are these SSD compatible with?

All these SSDs are compatible with Windows PCs, MacOS, mobile Android devices, and most Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch consoles.

Can I play video games directly from these devices?

So long as your PC or consoles have USB 3.1 Gen 1 support for the T5 EVO, USB 3.2 Gen 2 support for the T7 and T7 Shield, or USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 support for the T9, they will be able to launch and run games directly stored on these SSDs.

However, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 games can't be played directly from SSDs, only stored in them, so they can be moved onto the aforementioned consoles later.

If you want external SSDs where you can install and play Xbox games directly from, you will need Seagate's Expansion Cards for Xbox which are currently on sale.

How are SSDs beneficial for containing files compared to Cloud?

With portable SSDs, we can access our files contained within them without the need for internet access to the Cloud, which can come in real handy if the internet is inaccessible due to bad signal or outages.

When is Black Friday going to start?

While retailers have been slashing prices all November, Black Friday starts now, November 28, 2025, and will endure for the following weekend until December 1, 2025.

It's best to keep a watchful eye for this last week of November, as retailers may be saving their biggest discounts on the final days leading up to Black Friday.

When is Cyber Monday set to start?

After Black Friday is finished, the next shopping spree event, Cyber Monday, will kick off on December 1, 2025.

Retailers will host big discounts primarily for electronic devices for that day and possibly have them last some time after Cyber Monday is over.
