Microsoft's Word Flow keyboard is now available for your iPhone

Microsoft has rolled out Word Flow for iOS, allowing those with an iPhone or iPad at hand to install the company's keyboard. Previously available in testing phases, this handy keyboard app will enable you to take advantage of various features, including one-handed mode.

Not only can Word Flow predict what you're tapping or swiping, but it's also intelligent enough to suggest words, correct spelling mistakes and be customized to suit your own tastes. As noted already, one highlight feature is the ability to switch to Arc mode, which allows for effortless one-handed typing.

You'll be able to download Word Flow from the App Store, but do note that it appears to be available in the U.S. only.

  • When in India? I mean, erm, on Windows Phone???
  • Maybe never.
  • You'll never see this happening.
Microsoft takes advantage of the customization offered by iOS & Android by making Launcher, Keyboard etc. But it'll not let developers to do so for its own OS, by making a little change in APIs.
When MS isn't taking care of its own OS, then who'll.
    In short WP/WM is dead.
It'll be only used by Enterprise like BB.
  • Have the same feeling myself that WP is deliberately being focused for Enterprise only or mainly - so I'm soon getting an iPhone 6S. Will keep my awesome SP3 though - that works on W10 :)
  • Yeah. I'm also ready to switch to iPhone 6sPlus or Nexus.
  •   I have an iPhone and Lumia. And typing on the Lumia is way nicer.   WP has Word Flow built in already, native. So why the whine? You've already got it. Here is ZD telling you its the best smartphone keyboard (and it is)
  • We talked about customization ,that WP/WM is lacking.
New & updated launcher , Keyboard etc.
Features of MS apps that other platforms have but MS own platform don't have.
Like Outlook, Onedrive, Skype, Office apps.
  • Rightly so. No crappy keyloggers on W10!

  • you already have it ... do you even logic ?
  • Not with that circular one-handed mode. Do you even Windows Phone?
  • o please do cry more about a circular keyboard ... you guys complain from everything
  • So I asked when is it coming to Windows Phone and I am complaining? Okay siiir, good logic right there. Deduction lvl = Colombo
  • Not you in particular, look at the other comments :)
  • I'm with Florin, so much whine about a circle, yet WP with native Word Flow is the best experience for typing across all smartphones. You people are epic.
  • WHO F****** CARES ABOUT AN ARCHED KEYBOARD... ios users arn't gonna use it, windows insiders are gonna ask ms to add it in WP, and word alredy featured in w10m Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Chill :) Some people will enjoy the keyboard, but most likely most of iOS users will stay at their default keyboard, most of the Apple customers are people that don`t like to change lots of stuff to their devices, there are also users that would like this in their Win phones but some go over the edge and start crying about it like this is the biggest issue of Win mobile. I do have do point out that MS clearly has 2 different teams working on these features but why not have a supervisor to make them push the same features to both platforms is beyond me.
  • In my opinion, the stock iOS keyboard isn't very good.  SwiftKey and WordFlow are much better.  It's great to have the option and amazing that Microsoft is showing us so much love!
  • I added it to my iPhone. The arced keyboard is actually really good, much better than the current side-shifted option on my 950XL. We'll see if it can fully replace SwiftKey. I for one would like the option on my WP.
  • I just added it too, and the keyboard is slightly different from what we have on WP but it's SOOOOOOOOO much better than the stock iPhone version and even better than Swype for Iphone which I've had since getting the phone.  I do agree that many iPhone users won't even think of changing the keyboard and have grown accustomed to the crazy pecking required to type on the normal Apple version.
  • I know... I'm not an ios fan... Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • We have a silly smaller keyboard thing… still dumb tbh Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • We do have the smaller keyboard, but after playing with both, the iPhone implementation is actually usable.
  • ^
  • Oh we already have it? Show me how to use Arc mode? Oh we can't? Then shut the hell up.
  • Word Flow keyboard is not only arc mode, so you already have the word flow keyboard, you just don`t have the arc mode that is not the most important thing in the world, just enjoy your phone and stop raging.
  • No I will enjoy my phone when it has the same features as the iPhone. I'll rage all I want because MS is doing things on other platforms instead of going full force on WP. So please just shut the hell up about people raging.
  • buy and iPhone then, it`s clearly the phone you would enjoy since it has the things you`re missing on Win phone.
  • Or Microsoft could start treating WP like first party again. But hey if your solution to everything is kissing their ass about every decision then it seems about right for you to say some stupid **** like that.
  • I`m not kissing anything, I just don`t go bananas about meaningless things as this one.. you can see my opinion above.
  • Lmao its a phone owned and made by a software company and they can't even give us simple little things? It's not meaningless when you drop $700 on a phone and it's subpar software wise. No one is ******** we just expect a lot more effort from MS.. Been dealing with this for almost 5 years using their damn phones.
  • I want it to come out for Android already lol.  Wordflow on iPhone has actually made me tempted to try an iPhone.  I have no intention of going back to Windows on a phone until they start treating it like a priority again.  I gave up nothing by switching and gained a ton.
  • You lost the best mobile ui, keyboard and what app stype there is ;) Sent from windows central app for windows 10 mobile
  • So you spent $700 on a phone you considered to have 'subpar' software? More fool you... Presumably since you say you've been 'dealing with it for 5 years now' then you did it twice. Good work. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • You are complaining about complainers and that's worse than complaining LOL
  • I second this. Microsoft should stop their " leta show Other Plattforms how awespme windows phone " thing. They totally went over the top with giving android and ios uses better app version and more features. Its enough now. Sent from windows central app for windows 10 mobile
  • Word flow means to swipe along the keyboard and you have a word. Arch mode is just one handed use Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • looks like a bunch of idiots still hanging on to WP , 1. FB messenger not supported even on IE11 or EDGE .. but supported on Chrome and Firefox and safari.. 2. quicktime no longer supported on Windows   But MS is all in for supporting everything so not sure does MS not have a say , or no one else cares ???
  • Here comes the whining...lmao
  • You spelled when in India wrong...
  • You don't find it a little dumb that iphone is getting exclusive features over WINDOWS phone?
  • ^ that. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Oh dont get me wrong, I do. I just find it far dumber to do the usual Windows 10 mobile whining. By now, it is now unsurprising. I am not sure why we havent gotten this yet but in the end, we should be use to it and yet you'll see the shocked and upset posts likely. And the funny thing is, this was annoucned weeks ago so it really is of no surprise.
Truthfully, if it iwasnt for the fact that I love the OS design and I loathe Android(and it's horrid performance on anything tha tisnt super high end or stock) and i dont feel like being coddled like Apple does with its users, i probably would have given up ont he OS simply for how microsoft handles the business.
  • People around here like to complain about Microsoft releasing unfinished stuff, even for small things such as the missing "reply-to" feature in Outlook Mail (which I have never used or seen anyone use before). Now imagine the whining if Microsoft released an unstable keyboard mode on Windows 10 Mobile. A guaranteed sh!tfest. Posted from Bikini Bottom via my Shell XPS 13
  • Basically swiftkey is 3 years old. And its already implemented within the swipe function since 8.1 . yet we sont get new features.
On the other hand, the windows keyboard is still the best keyboard there is. Even. Now here on Android its the keyboard I am using, because I hate all the android ones. But by the end of the day, I dont know why I still ask myself " why is ms still investing into its mobile version, when its not getting anything done. (Continuum is not a feature that is on the table of features here) . " Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • I loved the keyboard on W8.1 but this new one on W10 is sooooo difficult to use. I have used the iPhone keyboard and find it similar to 8.1. Not too bothered though as I will be getting iPhone 6S June when my contract finishes. So I can have all the keyboards until MS bother to create a beautiful experience on phones again and unique designs like Nokia did. I may be back to WP or not - up to MS really!
  • Dont you find it a little dump that the W10M API still doesnt allow the implementation of this feature and iOS in the 9th interation does?
  • A one-handed arc keyboard that I'll never use? Nope. I don't even have big hands and I can use the keyboard on my 950 fine with one hand.
  • lol
  • This keyboard would be a nice addition to Windows mobile. I would definitely use it on my 950XL.
  • Amen to that
  • Do yoga and those desires will go away!!!!
  • Anything would be a nice addition to Windows Mobile.
  • At this point ? Yep. Definitely.. Hell I donr care about apps anymore. I want features :D or well stability , more customizeability and stuff.. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • When for windows phone in India.?
  • Glad I've stayed loyal to WP long enough to see the best features available on iphone. One-handed mode would be nice on WP too, maybe someday. I hope they give up Glance next, I mean why not?
  • Technically no need to give up glance. Android OEMs already copied them lol
  • One handed mode does exist on windows 10 mobile. It'd available for large screen devices Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • The latest Windows Central comments trend: It's easier to complain than to actually know what your phone can do. Posted from Bikini Bottom via my Shell XPS 13
  • +1
  • Oh you mean that half assed one handed mode we have? Yea buddy.. The latest trend seems to be kissing their ass to justify your purchase.
  • How dare people actually be satisfied with the current offering which is actually quite good? Grab your pitchforks, folks, we got some witchhunting to do! Lynch the reactionaries, they are government shills!
  • Satisfied with a half assed product
  • That's like, your opinion, man.
  • What's so 'half assed' about it? Not curvy enough for you? Man, all this whining about a square one handed keyboard on windows mobile. Get a life Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • Agreed. I find it unintuitive to be reading letters on their side on a keyboard I already type with swipe with one hand on my 930, a device which doesn't even have the one handed keyboard. I can't imagine getting used to a curved one. I could get used to a smaller one, on one side of the screen though, like the larger screened Lumias have ;) Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • Technically we have that keyboard. Keep holding spacebaar till the keyboard gets a green sign. Then drag it to the left or right ane gets smaller. That's Microsoft's way of giving us one handed writing .. Kinda sad, disappointing and depressing… Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • I just tried it on my 640xl running windows 10 version ..218.Didn't see any green sign :(
  • Did ms took that out ? Wtf wait.. I'll check Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Press space for a whole until the edges of the keyboard light up in blue, or whatever your phone color is set to. Then ( by still pressing space ) drag it up and down, to swap its possition, or left / right to change size. Its still there on the 1520 Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • only works for the 950XL basically above 5" screen size.
  • Works for every windows 10 mobile installed phone over 5 inches. Or 5.5 inches. And he has a 640xl. So 6" . Should work regardless
  • Oh,I got it now. I thought we'd get the arc :)
  • Nah. Never used that on ios/android to begin with. But even given that fact that other platforms get that feature by ms but ms own plattform won't get it is sad
  • Not as nice looking as that one though, oh and those blue tracing dots!!!!
  • There already is a one-handed mode, not that it's even needed.
  • We don't buy iphone here.
  • VERY reluctantly, I did.  In fact, I've never had a smartphone that didn't run some flavor of Windows Mobile/Phone.  Anything to make this bland iPhone behave more like windows phone is a huge improvement for me.  I've installed this keyboard, and it's fantastic.
  • I'm guessing that way more Windows PC users use an iPhone than use a Windows phone.
  • I'm on iPhone since the 950XL just didn't do it for me and I wish my L920 was still functioning. Having this keyboard is a huge deal for me, but it does suck at the same time that all the best things about WP is available on other platforms.
  • … and again, ios/Android are getting the great enhancements and app UIs while windows Mobile isn't really catching up.
That keyboard should have first come to Windows 10 mobile ! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android

  • No , you don't understand : Its a ******* Microsoft app, api whatsoever that is better on android or is only available there ! YET ON MICROSOFT 1st PARTY OS WE HAVE NOTHING ( to go a bit overdramatic ) . And we simply feel.abandoned .
  • Yet, we don't see iOS users complaining so vocally about features that Microsoft offers on Windows 10 Mobile but are nowhere to be seen on iOS. E.g. Bluetooth file sharing, a file explorer for the phone file system, having a gap in the grid of static icons on the homescreen, etc. Furthermore, I use the current one-handed-mode keyboard on my 950 XL quite a lot and am very happy with it. I have also noticed that the normal thumb does not swipe a circular/radial area comfortably, because not all thumb positioning angles are equally feasible for the thumb's movement mechanism. My thumb, for example, traces a pentagonal/almost-rectangular pattern on the bottom-right side of the phone. Hence I (and I'd guess most people) would have no benefit from this added radial mode. Posted from Bikini Bottom via my Pineapple PineBook XPS 13"
  • Well maybe that's because nobody likes windows phone to begin with and ios is superior in their eyes ? Actually most ppl I know say windows phone is **** and dumb and they don't even care about those features, because they hardly know about em. Then file explorer ? Pretty Shure both android and Ios have those , and so on.
  • Also I know, and I am aware of the fact that windows mobile has great things to offer among an amazing ui and depth. But I am actually talking about ms no giving us , their main os, the attention and love yet making so much more effort for other platforms on the mobile market. Also I know were having a one handed keyboard. It's still to big for a 1520. That ios one is actually handy, just used it on a iphone plus. Damn that feels great. Finally big phone wielding with one hand :3 Sent from windows central app for windows 10 mobile
  • C'mon guys if we request harder and beg incessantly for better features in these better apps I believe, somewhere in my heart, MSFT might even care to consider porting this to their own mobile OS. #Win10M #the_bastard_child. ;P
