What you need to know

  • Minecraft Realms is no more, but Realms Plus just sprang up.
  • It still gives you a private server, but also a lot of other content.
  • You can subscribe from the Minecraft Marketplace.
  • Minecraft is part of Xbox Game Pass.

A few months ago, we reported that Minecraft was getting a subscription service called Realms Plus. Well, you'll be happy to know that Realms Plus is now live and anyone can subscribe if you want a private server.

Microsoft is introducing a new subscription tier for Minecraft Realms, dubbed Realms Plus. Realms Plus will effectively be the same as regular Realms with 10 player slots, however, it'll also include more than 50 items from the Minecraft Marketplace, with new content added for subscribers each month.

Because Realms Plus is new, you can get your first month of it for free. Realms Plus is available for all versions of Minecraft that have the Minecraft Marketplace. It doesn't seem like it's available on PlayStation 4 then. If you're a content creator, you should definitely subscribe.

The post on Minecraft's website provides the list of content you can expect when you become a member. There's also a link there that takes you directly into Minecraft where you can get a Realms Plus trial. What do you think of the service? Are you interested? Let us know.
