What you need to know

  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps is an action platformer for Xbox One and PC.
  • The game is part of Xbox Game Pass at launch.
  • Moon Studios is patching it to 120 FPS on Xbox Series X.
  • You can purchase Ori and the Will of the Wisps for $30 through the Microsoft Store.

On Reddit, user Decoraan posted a screenshot from ResetEra where Ori and the Will of the Wisps Game Director Thomas Mahler said that internally, the team is pitching the idea of as 120 frames per second (FPS) patch for the game for Xbox Series X. You can see the statement below. It has been edited for clarity.

Internally we're also pitching around the idea of maybe making a version of Will of the Wisps that supports 120 Hz on the Xbox Series X, but that'll be up to Microsoft to decide, so feel free to tweet Phil about that. I think it'd be neat if Ori would be one of the first games to ring in the new era of console games supporting a higher refresh rate than 60 Hz. A lot of TVs out there support 120 Hz and by the time the Xbox Series X launches, that'll be even more commonplace, so people should have content that makes use of that new technology.

During the Xbox Series X gameplay reveal, Moon Studios confirmed the 120 FPS patch. It's coming to Xbox Series X "later this year." The title will also get better audio given the added power of the upcoming console.
