PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds dethrones Call of Duty: WWII in weekly U.K. games sales
Call of Duty: WWII has been dominating Xbox One sales charts for weeks now, but it looks like another title finally dethroned the game in the United Kingdom at least.

According to the latest sales figures by GfK Chart-Track, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) managed to beat Call of Duty: WWII when it came to physical sales in the country last week. GfK Chart-Track is a market research company that has monitored music, video, and software sales in the United Kingdom and Ireland since 1996. Each week they release a report tracking the health of the gaming industry by following new games.
The top twenty physical games for the week ending on January 13, 2018 are as follows. Many of the titles are older games which may surprise you. Even though PUBG comes with a digital code, it's still sold in a physical box at retailers hence why it's included in this list. The promotion which bundled the game with an Xbox One X ended at the end of December 2017 so physical sales aren't inflated because of that.
- PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
- Call of Duty: WWII

- Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
- Forza Horizon 3

Call of Duty: WWII has effectively remained the top-selling game each week since it came out, so it's a little surprising to see PUBG topple it even on Xbox One. It seems as though, despite the game's problems, players are loving the Xbox Game Preview experience. Frequent updates which address key issues have improved PUBG for the better over the course of the last month. While there are still significant hinderances, PUBG on Xbox One manages to capture the enjoyment of the better PC version.
Keep in mind that this list only includes physical Xbox One game sales, so the fact that PUBG in on there is a good example of its craze among gamers. Xbox One digital sales should further increase the gap between PUBG and other titles. It should also be noted that Call of Duty: WWII has sold many more units on Xbox One since it launched in November 2017, as this data only represents last week. Nonetheless, it's great to see PUBG do so well in a key market like the United Kingdom.
PUBG is a last-man-standing shooter being developed with the help of community feedback. Starting with absolutely nothing, players must fight to locate weapons and supplies in a battle to be the only one alive. PUBG is a surprisingly realistic and high-tension title set on a massive island. Be sure to check out the game if you like competitive multiplayer experiences.

Rainbow six siege still on the charts !

It helps that retailers constantly put it on discount. That and Ubisoft has actually delivered a compelling game that they keep adding content to rather than rushing a sequel. Sure, you pay every year for more content (if you want) but it's actually a really great model for a game that's going to stick around. Rockstar does similarly with GTA Online, constantly delivering more content (albeit in their cast it's usually free with IAPs for in-game currency instead).

What the heck is Hello Neighbor?!
-
It's a broken game which has you sneak into your neighbor's house who might be a murderer.

Grand theft auto..... How on earth is that still selling in such numbers. Everyone that wants it must own it.

Goes to show that gamers are starting to wake up to the fact that CoD isn't that great anymore
-
I'm hoping they do a remake of MW2. That would be awesome!
-
Only on Xbox One it seems. Hopefully PUBG will launch on other platforms so people can get over Call of Duty.

Apart from the fact that WWII is the best selling COD since Black Ops 2 or something, might even have surpassed it by now. More people are playing COD than in recent years which is kinda the exact opposite of what you just said. It's been out since November 3, the people that really want it already have it. And mostly on PS4.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is #8? Great game, but man that's like 3 years old now.
