Prey picks up early May release date and foreboding new gameplay trailer

If you've been looking forward to getting your hands on the upcoming Prey reboot, you now have a date to look forward to: May 5. Bethesda announced the release date for the Xbox One, PC, and PS4 shooter alongside a brand-new gameplay trailer that may leave you with a feeling of both excitement and dread. Check it out below:
Prey's gameplay takes place in the year 2032 aboard the Talos I, a space station that orbits the moon. You're a part of an experiment meant to "alter humanity forever," Bethesda says. And, as as you'd probably suspect when "altering humanity" is involved, things take a giant turn for the worse as you end up fighting for your life against aggressive aliens that have overrun the station.
Along with the release date and new trailer, Bethesda also revealed that anyone who pre-orders will get an exclusive Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack. The bonus pre-order pack also includes extra items like Neuromods, medkits, a starter kit for building tools and weapons, and more.
Will you be checking out Prey when it launches on May 5? For now, you can pre-order the game ahead of time, but let us know what you're looking forward to most when the game launches.

Big fan of the original prey. This looks good, but lacks the human element that made prey what it was. Basically this isn't Prey.

I agree from the trailer, but with that said, you don't really know until you play the game. That said, this looks like just another shooter. Yawn.
-
I never played the original, when you say it lacks the human element what do you mean?

In the first one, you were abducted along with your girlfriend and some old bloke from what I remember. Then your GF turns into some weird scorpion thing and you have to kill her. That's about all I can remember from it. Personally I thought the original was far too easy... There were some mildly challenging puzzles but you were pretty much invincible, when you died you just had to shoot a few wraths and you were back to life. It was a pioneering game in many ways though. It introduced portals that you could walk through and some bits where you could walk up walls and onto the ceiling. It was very linear and not much reason to go back for a second play through.

This exactly. For a first generation 360 game (my actual first and first achievement), it was just ok. I did enjoy playing it, but when it was done I quickly sold it and got Oblivion. I think the achievements were set up to make you replay on each difficulty level. I thought it was a unique experience and would actually like to have one of those again someday, just with a better game.

Looking forward to this one!

They should Release the original Prey for backwards compatibility!
-
Amen to that!!

Nice blend of other games. And HAL2000.

Yeah, definitely lot's of Half-life influence. Wise given all the pent up demand for a new Half-life game.

I still don't think it should be called Prey, but I'll suss it out, hopefully it has a demo.
