What you need to know

  • Resident Evil Village is the next big game in the Resident Evil series.
  • A showcase on January 21 is going to show a new trailer and gameplay footage.
  • Resident Evil Village is scheduled to release sometime in 2021.

Resident Evil Village is an upcoming horror game from Capcom and the next mainline entry in the long-running Resident Evil franchise. Today, Capcom announced a new Resident Evil Village showcase taking place on January 21 at 2:00 p.m PT. We'll be getting gameplay footage guided by Brittney Brombacher (aka @BlondeNerd on Twitter), as well as a new trailer.

Resident Evil Village is a departure from past entries in many ways. It's a first-person game starring Ethan from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, while the game takes place in a snowy European village filled with what appear to be werewolves, witches and Krampus-esque goatmen. Depending on how it pans out, this could end up being one of the best Xbox horror games available.

Resident Evil Village is currently a next-generation exclusive title, coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5 and PC. Capcom is looking into the possibility of Xbox One and PS4 ports but no promises are being made. Resident Evil Village is currently slated to release at some point in 2021.
