Respawn is gearing up for Titanfall 3

A few months ago, EA announced that Titanfall 3 was in development. However, not much information was provided about the game or just how far along the title was in the pipeline. Luckily, a report by GearNuke provided some answers. There are numerous job listings regarding a Titanfall project on the developer's website. Given the sheer number of openings and the description, it seems that development is just ramping up.

For example, a "Senior Animator," "Senior Network Engineer," and "Senior Game Designer" are required. This doesn't point to a game that is even close to being finished. Given the fact that we know Respawn Entertainment is working on Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order for 2019, Titanfall 3 might be at least two years away.

Many gamers were worried that EA might release Respawn's Star Wars project around the same time as Titanfall 3 — like what the company did with Star Wars Battlefront II and Titanfall 2. This impacted sales of the latter because it was going up against a juggernaut. Delaying the title so that more content could be added would've been the right move.

Titanfall 2 didn't garner the same review scores that the original received even though it featured a stellar campaign. This was mostly due to the fact that there just wasn't a lot to do in multiplayer. There was nothing new that existing players, especially those on Xbox One, hadn't done before. Here's hoping Titanfall 3 fixes that, whenever it launches.

  • 3? I thought this game didn't sold enough to warrant a 3rd version.
  • It’s EA. They’ll keep pushing it.
  • It was sandwiched between COD and Battlefield at release and a marketing nightmare to differentiate. Both of those games offered inferior gameplay compared to Titanfall 2 (not just imho, check Metacritic). A 3rd version isn't just warranted, it's needed.
  • I for one am happy that they are doing another one. Really love both of them, story and multi-player. Theyre very unique and warrant to be there with the best like Halo, Modern warfare and Golden eye.
  • I agree. While I have moved on to other FPSs since, TF1 and 2 are by far my favorite FPSs of this generation. I am really glad they are making a third.
  • Get the Titans to feel like they did in TF1 (Huge dangerous machines with shields from the beginning - not a bunch of easily damageable/destroyable sidepieces), ditch the stupid battery mechanic, boost the graphics up much more and at Native 4K, give us more countering and hand to hand combat abilities, improve the servers to TF1 (fast, smooth, responsive) levels, and return the smart AI with their smart side conversations. Then you can have my money. Loved TF. Not so much TF2. Impliment these suggestions, and I'm sure I'll love TF3.
  • Your prime focus is easily explained by switching from Respawn's heavily modified Source Engine (valve) to Frostbite (EA). That's not easily fixable.
But, since they are on Frostbite and are with EA, I wanna see Ray Tracing implemented in TF3.
  • Great! put a Battle Royale mode on the side with Titans and it should do good.
  • YES! Loved the first two, and really looking forward to the next in the series.
  • Hope they invest more in the single player. I enjoyed that a lot more than the multi-player stuff.
  • I LOVED the original Titanfall. I HATED TF2 and deleted it after 2 days. I honestly don't know what to think about TF3.
