Ridiculous Marathon is an AdDuplex HERO App that will run you ragged

Ridiculous Marathon is one of the many fantastic games from Windows Phone developer Game Troopers. The endless runner game has you racing a strange pet that is an alien/gorilla mix breed through the Amazon rain forest. The Xbox gaming title is also today's AdDuplex HERO App.

The HERO App is a promotional campaign for Windows Phone and Windows developers on the AdDuplex Network. The program has changed slightly from last year and partners AdDuplex with AppDeals, TechRewards{.nofollow} and Windows Central to deliver a host of benefits to the top apps and games each month. Our role in the HERO App campaign is to offer a little exposure to these titles by sharing them with you, our readers.

The backstory has an odd-looking pet celebrating a birthday. The pet is mix breed that merges an alien creature with a gorilla. During the party, the pet swings to bust open a piñata filled with candy and ends up hitting its owners. To avoid being punished, the pet begins his endless run through the Amazon forest.

Ridiculous Marathon

When you first launch Ridiculous Marathon, the first run will be tutorial in nature that covers your gaming mechanics. Once you finish the tutorial, the game will launch to the main menu that offers options to jump into gameplay and to access:

  • Daily and Weekly Challenges
  • Gaming Missions
  • Settings
  • The Game Shop (for power-ups)
  • The Game Leaderboard
  • The Cosmetic Store (for character customizations)

Gameplay is similar to other endless runner games. You swipe at the screen to move your pet left or right, to make it jump and to make it roll under obstacles. There are gold tokens to collect and green gems to collect that can be used to purchase power-ups or customizations (an assortment of costumes for your character). You will also find power-ups and mission items scattered about the endless course that can be collected. There's even a rocket-powered surfboard that will let you fly above the dangers.

Power-ups include items such as magnets to collect more tokens, jetpack and double jumps. Obstacles you will have to avoid include barricades, jungle vines and logging trucks. In addition to the power-ups that can be purchased or collected, there are piñatas that can be earned and used to make your pet invincible.

Gaming missions and challenges are set up with specific performance goals such as scoring, distance and token collection goals or collecting special items that are scattered around the course. Completing these missions and challenges will earn you tokens.

Overall, I enjoyed re-visiting Ridiculous Marathon. The Windows Phone game does a good job of tackling the basics such as challenging gameplay and colorful graphics. The customizations are also a nice touch to add to the uniqueness of your pet's appearance.

Ridiculous Marathon is free, ad-supported game with an in-app purchase option of $2.99 that will remove the ad support. It is a fun game and well worthy of being a HERO App.

  • W10M is officially out for Lumia 520 CV India. And WC has no time for it!
  • There are more than 200 countries and more than 30 lumia models, and you idiot want WC to write an article for each?
  • If they have time why not u moron... Lack of education rule ir life..
  • it's not like much happens on Microsoft products lately, look at the last news, pure crap from WC, every day WC becomes less and less interesting, usually they use the clickbait articles, like Microsoft bringing keyboard to iOS and cortana to Android and all that stuff. if they have time for that, they can write articles about Windows 10 updates if they can confirm it. Use your brain a little more, it seems you are the only idiot here. Windows Central writes about Microsoft related stuff, so yes, they can have time to write articles about each or make an article that they can keep updating. but of course like I said, you don't use your brain, so can't expect much from people like you.
  • Is the official WM10 contain the same OS with Slow Ring?
  • That was hell of a grind...
  • Keep 'em coming GameTroopers! This looks interesting, might give it a spin.
