Star Wars: Commander is being retired on Windows devices

If you still like to jump into Star Wars: Commander on your Windows phone or PC, your time with the game is coming to an end. Disney is alerting its Windows users via an in-app message that the game will no longer be available on the Windows Store after May 31, and it will be completely unplayable after June 30.

Star Wars Commander EOL

The message reads:

As a valued player, we want to let you know that in-app purchases are no longer available in this product on the Windows platform, and the Windows version of this product will not be available for download after May 31, 2017. You will still be able to play the game until June 30, 2017, however, Disney will not be able to refund or credit you any virtual goods, game currency or other items purchased by or provided to you.

It's a disappointing move, but one that isn't entirely unsurprising. The strategy game remains a Windows 8.1 app and has never been moved to the Universal Windows Platform. Star Wars: Commander continues to be available on other platforms, however, so those with an Android or iOS device on hand will be able to continue playing.

Thanks to Shane and Tom for the tips!
