A new report claims Microsoft received several serious offers to acquire its UK-based Lionhead Studios but the company turned them down because it was unwilling to sell the studio's Fable franchise as well.
As promised, the online servers for the Fable Legends closed beta have now been shut down, as development of the free-to-play game has ended. Microsoft is still processing some refunds for players who purchased in-game Gold for the game.

Microsoft has announced it is closing two of its internal game studios; Lionhead in the UK and Press Play in Denmark. The games that were under development at those studios, Fable Legends and Project Knoxville, have also been canceled.
Developer Lionhead Studios and publisher Microsoft have confirmed that the open beta test for their upcoming multiplayer RPG Fable Legends for Windows 10 and Xbox One has been delayed. Originally scheduled to begin by the end of 2015, the open beta has been delayed to sometime in the spring of 2016.
