Prepare to play Titanfall in style with limited edition Xbox One controller [Updated]

For gamers who love buying gadgets and technology, console launches represent a fun time to stock up on not only a new system but also a host of accessories for that system. If you care about local multiplayer, you’re definitely going to need an extra controller or three. Problem is: the controllers available at launch are always the same color. By the time cool colors come along, many of us already own all the controllers we need.

Luckily Xbox One owners don’t have to wait too terribly long for a different controller style to arrive. When Respawn and Electronic Arts' highly anticipated Titanfall launches on March 11 in North America and March 13 in Europe, a special limited edition controller will pop up right along with it. It certainly looks different from the standard black model! Update: Amazon preorder link after the break!

The Titanfall controller shares the same hardware as a normal controller, but the paint job is far more eye-catching. The front panel appears to be made of white plastic, though military-themed orange, black, and gray patterns are splashed all over it. The top and back of the controller consist of black plastic, like a regular controller.

Titanfall Limited Edition Controller for Xbox One box

This controller’s design is meant to evoke the universe of Titanfall, according to Joel Emslie, Lead Artist at Respawn Entertainment:

"In a collaborative effort with the Xbox design team and the Respawn art department, our goal was to create a controller that feels as if it is a piece of military spec hardware transported from the universe of Titanfall and into players hands."

Online commenters have also compared the controller design to the visual styles found in Remember Me from Capcom and Sony’s classic Wipeout series. Personally, I find the design too busy and would prefer they had gone with entirely white plastic over this combination of black-and-white. But I really want a differently colored controller, so I’ll be buying it!

The Titanfall Limited Edition Controller for Xbox One will arrive on March 11 in North America and March 13 in Europe. The North American prices is $64.99, five dollars more than a regular controller. Game sold separately. Also, don't forget about the Collector's Edition of the game.

  • I want one! :D
  • Getting one
  • Very cool controller
  • Love it
  • Amazing
  • Getting one and standard edition of titanfall. Can't wait
  • Paul, there's a problem. I keep throwing my money at the screen, but nothing happens. WHAT'S WRONG?!
  • Your tv must only take coins. Get a handful and make sure to throw really hard.
  • I'd throw bitcoins at the tv if I were you. Just sayin
  • Rofl, great advice!
  • You need to pay with Rubber Ducks.
  • I'll be getting one. As far as I can tell it's only $5 more than a regular controller and I currently only have one. And no game I can think of between now and then would call for an extra controller. Assuming you can do two people on one Xbox in Titanfall.
  • Killer Instinct, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, Forza 5, Skylanders: Swap Force, and Call of Duty: Ghosts all support two players on one system. Not much, but it's a start.
  • There is also Fifa 14 if i'm not mistaken
  • And all the sport games.
  • Oh yeah, forgot about those.
  • I meant as I'm coming out between now and Titanfall. But you are correct.
  • In that case, there are two more games with local multiplayer coming out before then: Rayman Legends and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, both in February. :-D
  • Will i be able to use this controller on my PC?
  • Orgasmic
  • That looks legit.
  • I want it to have my babies.
  • Nearly impossible. For that to happen you would need two things to occur. For starters, your newly purchased, amazing controller would need to become alive, transform into a sexually reproducing organism with compatible reproductive organs while also containing the same DNA structure as yourself , a human being. As well it would most probably grow much larger in size, to be able to carry a human child to full term. Secondly, you'd have to bone your controller, Dude. Theeeere's a pretty mental picture.
  • Getting this and the turtle beach titanfall headset I should be set!
  • I'm getting that
  • Where can i get me one of those
  • Let me know when they come out with a controller that isn't a creaky piece of garbage.. I will pay a hefty premium for that.
  • This.
  • Really? Creaky? Is it, that's surprising, I would have expected better
  • Yup, my initial controller was creaky, so I went and bought a second and sure enough... creaky.
  • Yeah, I bought a second controller, which I did not need but it creeks and clicks louder and the other two controllers I have... I can't stand it, buy it plays and I have finally got over it...
  • Dope.
TITANFALL a breath of fresh air to the FPS genre.
  • Don't understand the excitement. The thing looks horrible. Looking forward to the game though.
  • I'm not a fan of the color scheme, too bright for me, and the fact its an extra $5.
  • Stop hating n get one
  • So, are these finally compatible with Windows? Or should I still get a 360 controller?
  • I want to know this too.
would be stupid if it's not compatible...
  • Sadly, I hear they're still not Windows compatible. I would get a wired Xbox 360 controller if you need one for your computer or tablet.
  • Wow that is really stupid... I'm speechless.
You know with the whole w8/xbox integration thing... MS makes me facepalm really hard sometimes
  • They are working on bringing support for it into Windows. I'm sure they need to make sure that they are compatible with everything the 360 controller is compatible with.
  • All they need to do is update the Xinput driver to support the new controller. I'm not a dev, but updating a controller driver can't be all that laborious.
  • damn. Hopefully this changes.
  • I just use a 360 wired controller. They are also cheaper now and solidly built. No rush for anything else.
  • Go to SKINIT.COM to get custom skins for your phones,Xbox 360 ,Xbox one, controllers,PlayStation systems ect
  • Skinit is awful. Used it once for a phone. The stickers you get are so thick and done stick to curved surfaces well at all. It leaves edges around your phone on the edges of the stickers too. Bleh!
  • Reminds me Macross a tiny bit. Good.
  • No thanks
  • Sexy!
  • How about a titanfall themed Xbox, is that happening as well?
  • There are rumors of one, but no real evidence to back them up yet.
  • At first I liked it but the more I look at it I'm like...eh
  • Controller, yes. Limited edition game, no. I love the statuette, but there's no place for me to put it. I have to know when to stop getting certain editions. The $80 versions, yes. Beyond that, no.
  • Definitely not for me. I can't imagine that thing sitting next to my black, unassuming xbone controller on my coffee table.
  • I must be the minority that dislikes this look, but cool to have variety!
  • Europe? also Netherlands???
  • I'd like to see a custom console sku personally. But that probably won't happen unto the next halo.
  • Damn, I would completely get it but the point of getting Rayman Legends and Plants vs. Zombies on release day is so my girlfriend can play with me and she probably would not be very happy if I make her wait to get the second controller.
  • I want to see chrome editions like they did for 360.
  • Those are just terrible. I would rather have custom lighting in the sticks or body of the controller.
  • Can't wait
  • Gotta have it..
  • I will wait for the Halo 5 console & controllers.
  • I'm still a little mad at my Halo 4 console. Its cool, but the sounds it makes are horrible (when powering on or off, or opening the tray). Thankfully it only does that if you push the button, not the commands through the controller. Still, the Halo 5 one will probably be cool.
  • I don't have a Xbox one, and I'm not getting one anytime soon, but damn I want this controller.
  • Its remind me of STAG from SR:TT. But I dont have Xbox One anyway, and since those XO controllers dont support Windows, why would I need one? On other hand, I think they'll release somekind of receiver for PC later. I think.
  • Darn it, I am the biggest sucker for this type of thing. This game better not suck, because I'm getting one of these!
