Yesterday at The Game Awards 2018, Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Désilets showcased his next project called "Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey." The title is supposed to give you a glimpse into the lives of our genetic ancestors like chimpanzee-like creatures and other apes millions of years ago. What makes Ancestors unique is that it doesn't appear to have any voice acting or other means of storytelling. The plot — which also spans millions of years — is entirely showcased through its visuals.

Today, GameSpot got a better look at the game with a thirty minute preview of the title. While the visuals might not be that stunning, it's definitely a unique experience given its subject material. You can watch the footage below.

According to PlayStation Lifestyle, Ancestors was announced way back in 2015, but this is the first time gamers have been able to see the title in action. Apart from that, Take-Two Interactive's Private Division will be publishing the open-world survival title on PC and consoles. It's scheduled to launch sometime in 2019. Take-Two is known for being the company behind Rockstar Games and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Are you interested in Ancestors? Let us know. While the concept it novel, it needs to have engaging and tight gameplay to succeed. A lot of titles have stellar presentations, but they fall flat because they can't hold onto the user's attention. Hopefully Ancestors won't suffer the same fate.
