The Witcher 3 expansion packs combined are almost the size of The Witcher 2

The Witcher 3 will start to receive expansion packs, but just how large will they be? 10-20 hours each, according to CD Projekt Red's Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who states that at the very least the new expansion packs will be the size of The Witcher 2 if combined. New characters, storylines, items, cutscenes, Gwent cards and more will be included in the purchasable content.

From the interview with Tomaszkiewicz:

"They will be quite long. The first expansion will be around 10 hours, and the second expansion will be around 20 hours. I think it's possible they will be bigger, because it's always like this—we plan some time of hours and it's twice or something like this—but I'm not promising anything right now. Even now, if you sum up these 10 and 20 hours and you compare it to The Witcher 2, it's almost the size of The Witcher 2. It will be cool. It will be new stories, and it will be emotional stories. I think that people will be happy."

If you have already invested countless hours in The Witcher 3, which news may come as a pleasant confirmation that there's much more to come. The developer certainly has the right idea when it comes to said content packs, which continue to be an issue for gamers. What would you like to see in The Witcher 3 expansions?

  • Can't wait!
  • Lot of respect for the developers, they show us customers a lot in return
  • Seems sizer
  • Damn, I have to wait until late August/early September before I have time to start playing the game and there is already an expansion, aaaargh! Such a long wait...
  • the first expansion (10 hours gameplay) will be released in October 2015 and the 2nd expansion (20hours gameplay) in Q12016 :)
  • cool!! :) but is it the last withcer game right? or am i wrong?
  • Well they're working on that cyberpunk game so... Maybe...
  • Officially the last Witcher game starring Geralt.
  • I heard the are going to make witcher but with a new character which means Geralt is not a playable character.
  • GOTY
  • Seems Witchier. I'd like see more "romance", and more farm animals. ...but not necessarily in the same scenes.
  • That would be... Wrong lol
  • I wish they'd make a gay romance option as well. EA does it with its RPGs like Mass Effect and Dragon Age I don't see why Witcher 3 can't have an option for that. As long as it's an option and not forced I don't see the problem.
  • Already traded for PGA
  • Then you're insane
  • He got the whole golf organization? Not a bad trade.
  • Still need to finish the first one unless the story lines don't matter?
  • You don't need anything to jump right in.
  • I mean if you enjoy talking to a random peasant, going to a nearby marker, following red stuffs with witcher senses, and then killing stuff at the end of that trail then yes it is worth it.
  • You mean 'side quests', how do you know that will be the only content? All they have mentioned is 'new stories'. Could be anything....
  • Oh wow I'm stoked about this.
  • Wont get The expansions. Played 121 hours in this game and I am bored out. Not because there is nothing left to do. Nah there is at least more then half of everything left. No more because the game is too big, not rewarding to be honest and the fact that you cannot level up anymore because of these fluffing 5xp thing just takes away the fun and motivation. Stuck at lv34 for 12 hours now and I don't wanna play anymore. And the additional content and voice overs won't do me any benefits since the game has no .. Seriously no replay value..
Playing witcher 2 iorweths path for the 10th time now. More fun then witcher 3 to be honest
  • I do agree with you to a point. Its almost too big to be enjoyable
  • Jop. Its nice sure and breathtaking. But i have to say. Thats it. That size of witcher 3 is just too much. For a mmo sure but for a single player game that game is just too big. And that's why I play witcher 2 again. Ive been through all of that 10 times but its small. Its perfekt.
Look at gothic 2 small but you can play it over and over and over again. Like witcher 2.
And witcher 3. The story is long and lets be honest linear. I mean the choices really only effect who is part of kear morhen battle and end battle. But that's the thing when you go open world. Replay value gets lost. At least in a single player game... And that there is no real end game content which helps you leveing up want me to downgrade to 1.01 again when you actually got xp for doing stuff and killing.
  • I want to see Shani and Kalkstein.
  • Still haven't beat The Witcher 2 yet. I bought 1 and 2 awhile ago. Tried playing 1 and quit because the prologue is so boring and the whole game feels like an mmorpg with only npcs. When the Witcher 3 came out I revisited The Witcher 1 and now that I've beat it I have more respect for the game. Now I'm on The Witcher 2 and I haven't even played 3 yet. 60 hours in 1, 13 hours in 2 and I'm still in Chapter 1.
  • I started with 2 and I was bored in no time and uninstalled it.
  • Finished the 1st one in 72 hours, the 2nd one in 40 hours and I'm working on the 3rd one.
  • These expansion packs are probably already done, but if users' could give input, they would probably ask that the expansion packs continue from your choice of Witcher 3 ending.   IE from location of where you moved with Triss or Yennifer.
  • You mean the next expansion is a story after ending? I got the worst ending and now playing for the second time to get the best one.
  • You restarted the game for that ? You know you just have to start after kaer morhen right ?
  • I don't have any save game for an earlier event also I skipped TWII questions by mistake plus I raised the difficulty now.
