What you need to know

  • Acer announced the Aspire 5 and Aspire 7 at CES 2021.
  • The laptops run on AMD's new Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors.
  • The Aspire 7 and Aspire 5 will be available in March starting at $750 and $550, respectively.

The Aspire 7 is a 15.6-inch laptop built to handle the needs of professionals and enthusiasts. It runs on an AMD Ryzen 5000 Series mobile processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. The laptop comes with up to 32GB of DDR4 memory, up to a 1TB PCIe SSD. It weighs 4.73 lbs (2.15 kg), which would be heavy for an Ultrabook but is lighter than some of the best gaming laptops. For connectivity, the Aspire 7 features USB-C and Wi-Fi 6.

The Aspire 7 has an 81.61 screen-to-body ratio, and it features Acer Color Intelligence and Acer Acer ExaColor. Acer Color Intelligence delivers a more vivid display while using less CPU power. It can dynamically adjust gamma and saturation in real-time as well.

To keep the laptop cool, the Aspire 7 you can swap the fans between silent, normal, and performance modes with the FN+F shortcut.

If you prefer, you can choose up to a 2TB HDD instead. The Aspire 5 doesn't boast the power of its larger sibling but should be enough for some photographers as well as students.

The Aspire 5 has a slimmer form factor, coming in at just 0.7 inches (17.95 mm). The laptop has a 15.6-inch FHD IPS display that has Acer BlueLightShield to reduce harmful blue light.

The Aspire 5 also has USB-C and supports Wi-Fi 6 for connectivity.
