Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL on T-Mobile set to receive .164 Windows 10 Mobile update

Should you be the owner of an Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL on T-Mobile in the U.S., you'll be pleased to learn of a new update that should hit your smartphone. Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.164 is the update that is reported to be hitting the Windows mobile device.

If you haven't received a notification yet, fear not as you can manually check for update by heading into settings > update & security > phone update and hit "check for updates". As for what's included in the update, T-Mobile has yet to supply a change log on the company's website, but Microsoft has said that build .164 is pretty much identical to the retail .122 build.

Let us know in the comments if you've received the update!

  • My Fierce XL was updated yesterday (Wed 16 Mar 2016) to .164. So far, so good. WiFi connection seems more stable, and doesn't drop like before.
  • Does it have the Glance feature?
  • No Glance.
  • Has anyone on a Lumia 1520 that's not on the Windows Insider program got an upgrade to WP10 from WP8.1?!
  • No one has, it's not released yet for the legacy phones Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • I guess the rumor was true for one device that wasn't mentioned. Lol. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Exactly
  • Yes very smooth and more stable then previous built.
  • So wake me up when it's all over
  • Okay so March 17? Let's see.
  • It's still very early morning in Redmond!!
  • Sune 17th is the correct date.
  • I want my w10 mobile update for my HTC one m8 already!
  • I was thinking about buying that phone, but HTC has abandoned WP and only do two phones. I don't think Microsoft even cares to update it.
  • It runs W10 pretty good. I have one running insiders .164
  • It's on the list to get the update though
  • Get the Lumia 1520 or Lumia icon(if you are on Verizon) or Lumia 930....far better phones.
  • I'm on at&t
  • All.those phones will work with att. The Verizon icon may require a work around Sent using Windows Central for Windows 10 on my Lumia 1520
  • Yet another off topic hijacking. Pretty sure WC will let us all know. In the meantime, I like that Alcatel xl, just not as much as my 950xl or 1520 (still on 8.1 and Trying to keep it that way!!!).
  • Another soon
  • 1520 till something better comes out. Guess I'll wait till next year and see if there is going to be a surface phone
  • Everything was functional in .122. Now .164 killed the syncing including all email accounts and Bing lock screen picture of the day in my att L640.
  • I think i am on the redstone build for my Fierce Xl. But good to see alcatel supporting their device(or Microsoft at least).
  • Waiting for this phone to be sold via Microsoft Store or Best Buy so I can use one of my discounts.
  • 10586.164 is still not the greatest. Song names still flicker when changing songs in the drop down. Edge still sucks, bad. Tiles are sometimes blank when opening folders or returning to home screen. MS apps still crash.
  • Windows 10 where art thou :D
  • I got the update yesterday for my Fierce XL and everything that was frustrating about using the phone appeared to smooth out significantly. One very new and frustrating bug that has occurred is that I can no longer connect to WiFi. I have 2.4 and 5 GHZ connections and the phone seems to only be able to see the 5GHZ band. The problem is that it is only capable of 2.4 connections. Luckily, I have an unlimited account, but my home wifi is way faster than TMo. Hopefully this gets ironed out quickly.
  • Soft reset after the update fixed that for me. Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10

  • I'm replacing my busted 640 with the Fierce. I hope W10 is less buggy on it than the last Insider build on my 640. I'll find out in a few days.
  • Hope you like it! I sure do! Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10

  • Already had .164 via the Insider Release Preview. Unenrolled and did a check just incase there was any firmware. Soooo smooth! Battery life is even better than it was on the stock .63 build. Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
