Bethesda is selling a new and improved Pip-Boy 3000

Bethesda has pre-sale orders available for the Pip-Boy Model 3000 Mk IV, just in case you weren't able to purchase the old one. A total of 5,000 units will be made available worldwide come November 11, though you'll only be able to order one in Australia, Canada, and the U.S. The price is $350, and does not come with a copy of Fallout 4.
With a compatible smartphone connected to the Pip-Boy unit, you'll be able to make calls, access contacts, send SMS messages, and even hit up some audio files while on the move. It's all achieved thanks to Bluetooth and the on-board Pip-Boy software. Not only that, but you'll also be able to display Status, Special, and Perks screens from the game. Simply put, it's similar the model available last year, but is vastly improved.
"The Pip-Boy: Deluxe Bluetooth Edition comes with a genuine RobCo Industries stand that doubles as a charging base and more powerful speaker option when the Pip-Boy is in place. The compartment on top opens to reveal a holotape that's a USB drive. And it all ships in a Capsule-Case-inspired tin designated for Vault 111 deployment."
Will you be picking one up? Sound off in the comments!
Update: The Pip-Boy 3000 is now available for pre-order from Thinkgeek as well.

Am I reading right? It now has its own hardware/display now? You no longer need to snap your phone into it? Just need a phone to connect to via BT?
-
That's what it looks like. For $350.

It does, but don't expect a touchscreen. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android

**** now I really want this. But $350??
-
Yeah... My thought exactly. Especially given I've already got the standard version which just sits in a box. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android

Though I'm in the UK, so it's moot anyway. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android

This must be the most epic SmartWatch ever Posted via the Windows Central App for Android

Contrasty to what's implied in the article, the source states this DOES NOT interface with the game. Just something to bear in mind. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android

It does say "Not only that, but you'll also be able to display Status, Special, and Perks screens from the game." But it doesn't necessarily mean its actual game stats. It could be like the dummy screens the app shows in Demo Mode. I suspect you are right.

On the product page: "Does not include the game Does not interface with the game"

With how poor the quality of the one in the game bundle was, I'd be uneasy. It certainly looks cool, and if it were compatible with the game, I'd be somewhat intrigued.
-
So it's essentially a limited functioning smart watch the size of a small brick....for $350... Hate to say it, but for once, you'd be better off with an apple watch lol
