Borderlands 3 launches on Xbox One and PC

What you need to know

  • Borderlands 3 is an open-world shooter from Gearbox Software.
  • The game launched on Xbox One and PC today.
  • The game is Xbox One X Enhanced and features 4K and 60 FPS modes.
  • You can preorder Borderlands 3 for $60 through the Microsoft Store.

A few months ago, Gearbox Software unveiled Borderlands 3 for Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia. The game takes place on multiple planets and features numerous alien vaults. It's by far the biggest Borderlands game yet, and it looks like the team has nailed it once again.

Luckily, that day has arrived and it's glorious. Our own Jennifer Locke is hard at work on the review, but she's loving the experience so far. We'll have plenty of guides and other features coming soon!

You can purchase Borderlands 3 for $60 through Amazon or the Microsoft Store. The game has a couple of different versions, but the $100 Super Deluxe Edition comes with the season pass and all the additional cosmetic packs.

Borderlands 3 features two modes on Xbox One X. There's a native 4K resolution mode that's locked to 30 frames per second (FPS), but there's also a 1080p 60 FPS option for those who prefer smooth gameplay. We've been playing the Xbox One X version for a day now and the performance is mostly stable on the console. It's unclear how the title fares on the base console though.
