Dead Cells is a rogue-lite, Metroidvania-like action-platformer. You'll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle assuming you're able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. It's rather hardcore as there are no checkpoints. The objective is to kill, die a lot, learn from your mistakes, and repeat until you've conquered everything.

Dead Cells costs $25 and has been available since August, but fans want even more content. Luckily, their requests have been answered. Today, the developer announced that the highly-anticipated "Rise of the Giant" expansion will arrive on March 28 for PC. It's unclear when this content will hit Xbox One and other platforms.

Players who have beaten the game at least once will gain access to the "Cavern," an entirely new environment filled with new ways to die. Abominable new traps, perilous lava pools await, and they are filled with violent new enemies waiting to kill you, including a new boss.

According to the team, there's also a new ending if you beat this insanely challenging boss. Rise of Giants features a lot more content and you can look at everything that's included in the package on the game's website. The best part is that the Rise of the Giant will be free on PC. Hopefully the same will be true of the console version.

Free at Steam

Rise of the Giant will also bring a lot of customization to the experience with the introduction of cosmetics. Luckily, you won't have to buy loot boxes because all of them can be earned in the game by vanquishing enemies.
