Don't miss this rare $50 savings on the Sonos Play:1 speaker!

The powerful and compact Sonos Play:1 speaker is currently $50 off (opens in new tab), which is a pretty rare sighting. The speaker, which normally runs $199, can now be had for just $149, which is quite a great price for everything that it offers. Whether you have Sonos speakers already spread throughout your house or you are looking to get started with your first one, taking advantage of discounts when they are available is the best way to do this. You'll be able to add this one to your existing set up or put it in a room or office to run independently.
Sonos does an amazing job of supporting its speakers and bringing new features to them often. Unfortunately, this price won't last long. If you're in the market for a Sonos speaker, be sure to grab one before the deal ends.

Jared started off writing about mobile phones back when BlackBerry ruled the market, and Windows Mobile was kinda cool. Now, with a family, mortgage and other responsibilities he has no choice but to look for the best deals, and he's here to share them with you.

It seems that links don't work in the Android version of this app..

Play:1 is only worthwhile if you plan on getting two to run in "stereo" mode. Otherwise Play:3 or 5 would be minimum.

It depends what you're looking for. If the goal is ambient music in a moderate sized or smallish room (e.g. where an Amazon Echo, Google Home, or basic Bluetooth speaker would suffice) a single Play 1 is fine; sound is superior to that of either the Echo or Home IMO. (Yes, I've owned all three.)

Strange to see recommending a product on a Windows enthusiast site for a product that can hardly be said to support Windows.

Phonos is actually far superior to the official controller. So much so that even on my tablet where I have a choice of the official or phonos, I opt for Phonos.
-
Plenty of great 3rd party options. Phonos and Zonos are tow for starters.
