DOOM and Quake's co-creator John Romero will reveal his new FPS on April 25

John Romero, who co-created the first two DOOM games and Quake while he was at id Software, will reveal the first details of his next first person shooter on Monday, April 25. Romero's announcement comes just a few weeks before id Software releases the reboot of its DOOM franchise on May 13 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Romero is now the co-founder of Ireland-based Night Work Games , and the company has posted a YouTube video to tease Monday's big reveal. It features both Romero and another id Software co-founder, Adrian Carmack, in a parody of a certain ending of a recent movie.

Romero was the chief game designer for the first two DOOM games and the first game in the Quake series, but left id Software just after the release of Quake in 1996. He went on to form Ion Storm, and was the main designer behind Daikatana, another FPS that was heavily delayed and received poor reviews when it was released. Romero co-founded or joined many other game developers and publishers before forming his latest company, Night Work Games, in 2015.
