Dispatch’s long‑awaited Xbox Series X|S debut is finally confirmed, and it arrives in less than two weeks with full Xbox Play Anywhere support

After months since its Xbox port was announced back in March 2026, the wait to play the hit superhero game Dispatch will soon be over, as Adhoc Studio has announced its Xbox release date.

On July 29, 2026, players will get to enjoy Dispatch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Xbox Play Anywhere. However, there's no word of it coming to Xbox Game Pass as of yet.

For those unaware, Dispatch is a narrative-adventure superhero game created by writers and directors who worked on the critically acclaimed The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands games.

It follows the tale of Robert Patterson, a.k.a. Mecha Man, a superhero who gets taken out of action after his mech-suit gets destroyed while fighting a supervillain.

Robert then gets a job as a dispatcher at a superhero dispatch center designed to rehabilitate former supervillains into heroes. Your goal as Robert is to manage your dysfunctional former villains to quell ongoing crises (while keeping them from killing each other), build relationships with colleagues, and rebuild your mech-suit to get back at the villain who forced you into semi-retirement.

This game exploded in popularity in 2025. It sold over a million copies across PC and PlayStation 5 alone in just 10 days, won three British BAFTA awards (in the Best Animation, Audio Achievement, and Performer in a Supporting Role categories), won an award for the best Outstanding Story-Rich Game at the 2025/2026 Steam Awards, and scored two nominations at The 2025 Game Awards despite having only four episodes being released at the time.

Even one of my former colleagues, Samuel Tolbert, loved Dispatch for its humorous and subversive take on the superhero genre, well-written characters, superb voice acting, gorgeous art direction, and intriguing story.

I unfortunately didn't have time to play Dispatch when it first came out due to being interested in other games and being swamped with work.

But now that all of Dispatch's episodes are available and that my wishlist is empty, perhaps I will finally give Dispatch a shot once it lands on Xbox on July 29, 2026, as I enjoyed the developers' previous work on The Tales of the Borderlands series.

But what about you? Will you be playing Dispatch on Xbox, or have you already completed it multiple times on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2?
