November 22, 2025, will mark the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest home consoles ever made, the Xbox 360.

To help old-school Xbox fans celebrate, we have found an early Black Friday bargain for the Hyperkin Xenon, a modern recreation of the original Xbox 360 for $39.99 at Amazon, instead of its usual $49.99 MSRP.

"The Hyperkin Xenon is a solid, well-made controller with a punch of nostalgia from the Xbox 360 days, but $50 for a wired controller with no pro features means this will only appeal to a very specific audience for whom price is inconsequential in the quest for a bygone era." ~ Jennifer Young

Even though there are more advanced controllers, why is the Hyperkin Xenon worth buying?

My colleague Jennifer Young gave an overtly critical review of the Hyperkin Xenon controller.

She stated that while its performance and build were solid, it didn't include enough modern improvements to justify its high $49.99 MSRP for a non-Pro wired Xbox controller, or compete with other controllers in the same price range.

I agree it needed some modern engineering like Hall Effect sensors, back buttons, and improved ergonomic grips, all of which could've been implemented without compromising the original Xbox 360's design.

Giving it a 3/5 review score seems a bit too harsh, as the Hyperkin Xenon still has plenty of positive traits going for it that, at most, would bump the score up to 3.5/5, at least in my opinion.

Its design is a perfect recreation of the Xbox 360 controller; it's comfy to hold (proving its ergonomics still hold up even after two decades), its buttons feel nice to press, and its controls are super responsive.

The Hyperkin Xenon also has a few modern touches like Precision impulse triggers to enhance immersive rumble feedback when pulling the trigger and a Share button to take screenshots and videos while playing on Xbox Series X|S.

While it may be a tough sell for younger Xbox fans, the Hyperkin Xenon is a must-have for older Xbox 360 fans like me who grew up finishing the fight in Halo 3 or experiencing the original Gears of War for the first time.

You can grab the Hyperkin Xenon controller for $39.99 at Amazon for a limited time with this 20% early Black Friday discount, which I feel is a more appropriate price tag for this nostalgia-fuelled Xbox accessory.
