In the latest report from Alinea Analytics, we have some insight into just how well LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has performed across platforms, and by all accounts, the game appears to have sold quite well, too.

According to the report, the game has sold around 1.2 million copies across PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam so far, generating roughly $83 million in gross revenue. PlayStation seemingly took the crown overall, with more than 612,000 copies reportedly sold on PS5 alone.

Perhaps most interestingly, though, or not, especially given the game’s younger target audience, is that Xbox reportedly outperformed Steam in sales. The report estimates the game sold more than 289,000 copies on Xbox, compared to just under 250,000 on Steam.

It’s a strong showing from Xbox in this case, at least I think so anyway. Despite Xbox not performing as well in console sales overall, it still shows the platform can hold its own when it comes to major game releases.

That said, according to Alinea Analytics, LEGO games are primarily played on console over PC anyway, so Steam still putting up those kinds of numbers is quite impressive too.

I did want to pick the game up myself, especially after the good reviews, and add it to my never-ending backlog of titles. I do like Batman, though, as he’s up there as one of my favorite heroes alongside Spider-Man, and having played LEGO games throughout the years, I am quite eager to jump into this one.

The game also received a glowing review from my older brother, who proclaimed it is “the best LEGO game ever,” which is pretty strong praise coming from the person I grew up playing LEGO games with.

Unfortunately, though, as Xbox is my platform of choice, I am disappointed to see the game not included as part of Xbox Play Anywhere. I’d have loved the flexibility of playing it across my PC, Xbox console, and ROG Xbox Ally X, so missing out on that versatility is really what’s stopping me from pulling the trigger right now.

That said, what are your thoughts on the sales? Are you shocked, or is this about what you expected? Make sure to let me know in the comments and take part in our poll!
