Gears 5, Metal Gear Solid, and more join Xbox Game Pass in September 2019

A few weeks ago, Microsoft announced that several ID@Xbox games were coming to Xbox Game Pass soon. However, we didn't know which AAA experiences would be joining the service in September. Luckily, that changed today. In a press release, the company announced that Gears 5, Metal Gear Solid, and other blockbusters are being added to Xbox Game Pass soon.

You can read about the upcoming games below. Out of all of these, Dead Cells, Gears 5, and Metal Gear Solid seem to be the immediate highlights. It's an interesting mix of blockbusters and smaller titles, but there are still are few surprises here and there. Keep in mind that some games are only available on Xbox One or PC.

Dead Cells

Dead Cells puts you in control of a failed alchemic experiment trying to figure out what's happening on a sprawling, ever-changing, and seemingly cursed island. According to developer Motion Twin‬, tough but fair combat, responsive controls, challenging foes make for a demanding, visceral, and cathartic action game.

Dead Cells should join Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One on September 5. It's also coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC.

Gears 5

Gears 5 is an upcoming third-person shooter from Microsoft's The Coalition team. The studio has worked on Gears of War 4 in the past, and it wants to make the sequel an even bigger adventure. The game is also more advanced on a technical front. According to Gears 5's Multiplayer Design Director, the franchise will feature 60 Hz servers for the first time.

Gears 5 should join Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One and PC on September 5 through the Ultimate Edition.

Metal Gear Solid HD Edition: 2 & 3

Metal Gear Solid HD Edition: 2 & 3 is a collection of some of the best stealth games ever made. In Metal Gear Solid 3, the origin of the Metal Gear series begins in 1964 at the height of the Cold War. Creature in the Well

Creature in the Well is a top-down, pinball-inspired, hack-and-slash dungeon crawler. As the last remaining unit, venture deep into a desert mountain to restore power to an ancient facility, haunted by a desperate creature.

Enter the Gungeon

Enter the Gungeon is an incredibly challenging action game that focuses on guns and gun-themed enemies. There's a lot of love about this responsive shooter, but it requires a lot of repetition to master.

Enter the Gungeon should join Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One on September 12. It's also coming to Xbox Game Pass for PC.

Gonner: Blüeberry Edition

Gonner is a difficult, procedurally-generated platformer with roguelike features, hidden secrets, multiple endings, and lots of bosses. You step into the shoes of the misunderstood and altruistic Ikk on a journey to cheer up his only friend in this world.

Bad North: Jotuun Edition

Bad North is a brutal real-time tactics roguelite. Defend your idyllic island kingdom against a horde of Viking invaders, as you lead the desperate exodus of your people.

Shadow Warrior 2

Shadow Warrior 2 is a first-person shooter which opens up the levels and offers even more thrills than the original. It's just a completely over-the-top experience everyone should play.

Usually, we recommend one or two games you have to play, but all of these titles are absolutely incredible. You have to play Dead Cells, Gears 5, Metal Gear Solid, and Shadow Warrior 2. There's no way around it. This is quite possibly the strongest month for Xbox Game Pass yet.
