Many smaller experiences launch on Xbox One and PC every day, but only a few stand out due to their unique concepts. Cemetery simulator "Graveyard Keeper" is one such title. The game launches on Xbox One and PC this year and is being published by the quirky team over at tinyBuild. tinyBuild is known for experiences like ClusterTruck and Hello Neighbor so a graveyard simulator fits right in.
According to the developer, Graveyard Keeper is the most inaccurate medieval cemetery management simulator of the year. Players build and manage their own graveyard while finding shortcuts to cut costs, expand into entertainment with witch-burning festivals, and scare nearby villagers into attending church. In many ways it's like a business simulator but you can commit absolutely horrendous crimes like throwing corpses into the river to save plots.
Today, developer Lazy Bear Games and tinyBuild released a gameplay trailer for the title. Graveyard Keeper not only looks like a deep management game, but it's also quite hilarious if you enjoy dark humor. Some of the main choices and features are listed below.
- Players gather valuable resources to craft new items.
- Players make illegal business alliances. For example, dead bodies don't need blood, so you can sell it to someone who can put it to good use. The same goes for body parts.
- Players explore mysterious dungeons to find new items. These areas contain secrets and you can find useful new ingredients craft a variety of poisons. Now, that poison may or may not kill a whole bunch of nearby villagers.
Graveyard Keeper feels like a strange cross between an absolutely disturbing game like Constructor and Stardew Valley. We can't wait to experience it in 2018. Hopefully the companies will announce a release date soon.
