The release of Title Update 7 and Episode 3 brought a new exotic weapon to The Division 2, the Chameleon. It's a Vector-based AR with a unique paint job and some interesting talents, and in the right situation, it can be very potent. But first, you have to get one.

And there's good and bad news on that front. The good news is that you don't have to do any specific, drawn-out questline for it, it's simply a world drop. The bad news is that you're then put into the hands of the RNG gods.

Some exotics require certain things to be completed. The Diamondback, for example, requires a clearance of Kenly College, the Eagle Bearer only drops from completions of the Operation Dark Hours raid. Thankfully nothing like this applies to the Chameleon, but there's also the flip side that there's no single easy place to farm for it.

There are things you can do to increase your chances though. And the first of those is to ensure you're farming areas with AR targeted loot.

The loot targeting system updates daily and every day there will be somewhere that has an increased allocation of ARs. Go there and get farming. If it's a mission, such as Camp White Oak in our image, try running it on higher difficulties to increase your chances further, and if you can get some pals together run as a group and if someone ends up with more than one maybe you can convince them to donate one to you!

If the targeted area isn't a mission but a district, run all the control points and activities you can in that area. Do the activities first and increase the level of the control points. If you don't get a drop from the open-world activities, squad up and take on a level 4 control point (or solo if you're a beast) for a better chance at good gear dropping.

Players have also reported success from running bounties, and even just finding them in random loot boxes in targeted areas.

Sadly, at least right now, there doesn't seem to be any better solutions. All you can do is concentrate your efforts on targeted areas and bounties and hope that the RNG is kind to you.

Warlords of New York due out on March 3

The Division 2 Warlords of New York expansion is due to launch on March 3 on Xbox, PC, and PS4. Early pre-orders will get a bonus level 40 weapon and some in-game apparel as well as a free level 30 boost to use on an in-game character.

As we get closer to launch hopefully we'll start to get some of the finer details ironed out on what to expect.
