Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition is now available to play on Windows 10. The game even supports Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere program, so if you play it on Xbox One already, you'll be able to carry your progress over and cross-play between platforms.

Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition was previously exclusive to Xbox One, and it includes all 26 playable characters from each season of the game. You'll also be able to fight across 20 destructible stages and check out monthly ranked challenges. Of course, just like the Xbox One version, you can also earn a fair share of achievements.

Interested? If so, you can pick up Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition for Windows 10 for $40 at the Windows Store now.

  • You're kiling me! :P
  • Lol, my game backlog is killing me ;p
  • You guys know if KI 1 & 2 are playable on PC as well? The details in the Store make it sound like they're only available on Xbox One.
  • Hmmm you're right, that wording is a bit odd. I would assume they'd be playable on PC since that is indeed a part of the Definitive Edition. But the wording and Play Anywhere sort of muddle that.
  • Probably only on Xbox, like how the class gears games are Xbox only even though they come with a play anywhere game (Gears 4)
  • KI has been playable on pc for a while now. It was one of the first games to be playable on pc after buying on Xbox. I actually have season 1 & 2.
  • He meant the classic arcade versions of KI1 and 2 that are included with the XBO version of the "new" KI game
  • I read yesterday on a gaming site that the arcade versions of KI1 & 2 are only playable on XBO, though, since it's "Play Anywhere" you can buy it on Windows and play those 2 classics on XBO (assuming you have the console). If you don't, then emulation is the only way to go :/
  • This fighting game is amazing. It's my favorite 2-D fighter right now and sits 3rd on my all time list. 1.Soul Caliber (Dreamcast) 2. Street fighter 2 (Arcade/SNES) 3. KI 2013 (Xbox One) 4. Virtual Fighter 2 (Sega Saturn) 5. Mortal Kombat 2
  • All good games, but I'd slot Marvel vs. Capcom in there somewhere (though I don't know where hah).
  • I missed out on the Marvel vs Capcom era. I think I was a big Tekken 2 guy around that time. So I never played it. I like watching it though.
  • The interesting thing about this for me is that a game retrospectively got put onto play anywhere....if they can do it with this then don't see why they couldn't decide to make Ori definitive edition and others play anywhere
  • Is it real play anywhere or GoW 4 play anywhere where you can't play competitive with Xbox player and where the community gets divided a little more each time a new map is released?
  • It's real play anywhere. I play against Xbox players all the time. Wish Gears was like that.
  • Gears 4 competitve cross play is coming. They had a test run last weekend.
  • I really really hope you're right. I want that. But the Devs response gives me pause as they don't seem too sure. Per PCGAMER: "What comes next after this hasn’t been decided—this weekend is an incredibly important first step in this process," explains a blog post from developer The Coalition. "Once we use the combination of our data and your feedback together, we’ll be able to make an informed next step (or not as the case may be). The key thing we want to stress is that we won’t be making any surprise changes all of a sudden based on this weekend."
  • Anyone try the arenas/tournaments that they run? Usually at 7pm, so I can never make it.
