CES 2017 isn't even here yet, but Lenovo's announcing nine (9!) new laptops. They're mostly updates and iterations of the existing ThinkPad line, running the gamut from entry level to professional grade. First and foremost are the new processors — Lenovo's not being specific, but they're saying these all have "the latest Intel Core i processors" (which likely means Kaby Lake chips). Every one of these laptops is also equipped with a Precision Touchpad, a discrete Trusted Platform Module for hardware-level security, MilSpec durability, and a bloatware-free Microsoft Signature Image of Windows 10.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 370 is the only convertible of the bunch, with a 13-inch FHD touch display that supports pen input. It sports Thunderbolt 3, integrated Intel HD 620 graphics, up to 16GB RAM and up to a 1TB SSD, and a 10-hour battery life. It's due in March 2017 for a starting price of $1264.
Under the name of the Lenovo ThinkPad T470 is a 14-inch FHD Touch display, packing 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and discrete NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics. It includes both a fingerprint reader and an IR camera for Windows Hello facial recognition login. It comes in at 3.49 pounds and 20mm thick, with a starting price of $914 and February 2017 availability.
There are two variants of this laptop. The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s comes with just integrated graphics, a 24GB RAM cap, and dropping the fingerprint scanner and IR camera to come in at 2.9 pounds and a slimmer frame. It has a WQHD IPS display option and is set for February 2017 availability and a starting price of $1099. The Lenovo ThinkPad T470p, on the other hand, accepts some additional weight (4 pounds) and thickness (24mm) for a 12-hour battery life — coming in March 2017 for $1049
If you want something bigger, then there's the Lenovo ThinkPad 570. Its 15.6-inch display is available in 1080p touch or 4K non-touch options, backed up by up to 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. Atop that display you'll find a Windows Hello-compatible IR camera, while there's a fingerprint reader nestled alongside the keyboard. That bigger laptop packs more battery cells — Lenovo claims a battery life of up to 16 hours. The T570 will be available in March 2017 for $909.
Then there's the Lenovo ThinkPad L470, which offers switchable graphics; both integrated Intel HD graphics and a discrete AMD Radeon R5 M430 GPU. It too offers up to 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. Its 14-inch HD IPS display is attached to a chunk of a laptop at 4.23 pounds. That thickness grants it two things: the space for a VGA port and a $799 price tag. Availability is expected for March 2017.
The slightly-larger option is the Lenovo ThinkPad L570, which offers a 15.6-inch display in your choice of 768p TN or a FHD IPS option (go with the latter). Inside the 5.25-pound body you'll find space for up to 32GB of RAM, a 1TB HDD or 512GB SSD, and 11 hours worth of battery. It'll start at $809 when it hit shelves in March 2017.
Coming in at a light 2.9 pounds is the Lenovo ThinkPad X270. This 12.5-inch laptop offers an HD IPS, FHD, or FHD Touch display, up to 16GB of RAM, a 2TB SSD or 512GB SSD, and an incredible 21.4-hour battery life. That's likely quite a generous estimation, but even half that would be impressive — especially at a starting price of $909 in March 2017.
Lastly, there's the Lenovo ThinkPad 13, a budget 13.3-inch FHD IPS touch laptop. With up to 32GB RAM, a 512GB SSD option, and Intel HD 620 Graphics, this $674 laptop is due in January 2017.
Phew. That's a lot of laptops, and we're still a week away from CES 2017 actually starting! Lenovo's also unveiled a pair of USB-C docks and displays, and we wouldn't be surprised if there was more to come. We'll be heading out to Vegas to check out these new ThinkPad laptops and whatever else Lenovo might have on tap!
