Medieval RTS 'Ancestors Legacy' promises native 4K resolution on Xbox One X

Ancestors Legacy is a real-time strategy game inspired by historical events during the Middle Ages. The game combines resource management, base building, and squad-based battles, in what the developers call an expansive experience. A highlight of the game appears to be the cinematic action camera that puts you right in the middle of the battle with the press of a button.

The goal of Ancestors Legacy is to take command of your army as you storm through medieval Europe in a series of campaigns. There are a couple of nations to choose from so you can play as either the Vikings, Anglo-Saxons, Germans or Slavs. Staying true to the Middle Ages, you go around raiding and pillaging enemy camps, villages, and other settlements. You have to use all of the tools and units at your disposal to conquer the land and establish your dominance for years to come. Ancestors Legacy also features a multiplayer component if you want a greater challenge against other players.

Recently, WCCFtech sat down with Producer Tomek Gop from Destructive Creations to talk about the game. When asked about the technical specifications on Xbox One X, he said the following.

We've shown the native 4K version while showing the game on PAX South in January. It's not like we're reinventing the wheel here, but to put it simple: folks who own an Xbox One X will have either higher frame rate, more details, or higher resolution. Or all at once, but probably my tech team would kill me for declaring this!

It's great to see the developer offering what appear to be a lot of enhancements for Xbox One X owners. Hopefully, this will be the case when the game launches over the summer, barring any changes.

Ancestors Legacy is currently an Xbox One console exclusive and the decision to only release it only on Xbox One and PC came down to ease of development. When asked about the decision, Gop said the following.

It's almost too ambitious for our… team to create a game on two platforms simultaneously. Once we decided we'll go for it anyways, all the research we've done told us that it's easier to do PC and Xbox One rather than, say, PC and PlayStation 4. And since the game is being created on PC anyways, there was no other option to consider.

Hopefully Ancestors Legacy will be a polished and addictive real-time strategy experience when it releases on May 22 for Xbox One and PC. The developers is even considering cross-play support.
