What you need to know
- Minecraft Dungeons is a co-op focused ARPG from Mojang Studios.
- It promises to receive regular content drops in the form of DLC and free updates.
- The Creeping Winter DLC and the game's next big free update will drop on September 8, 2020.
- Minecraft Dungeons will also be getting a physical release for Xbox, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on that day.
Some big news today for Minecraft Dungeons fans, with the release date for the Creeping Winter DLC finally announced! According to Mojang Studios, Creeping Winter will drop on September 8, 2020, and will bring with it new levels, mobs, gear, and more to their Diablo-them-up co-op ARPG adventure. Players who purchased the Hero Edition will gain access to Creeping Winter at no additional cost, just like with Jungle Awakens, while other players will be able to purchase the DLC separately.
That's not all the news though, as Minecraft Dungeons is also getting a big free update on the same day that will add new content and make sweeping changes to the game. This update will launch right alongside Creeping Winter, but will be available to all players regardless of which version of the game they purchased. New merchants will be added to the game that can be rescued during your travels.
- The Blacksmith can upgrade gear for you.
- The Gift Wrapper can help you trade with other players in multiplayer.
- The Merchants can be levelled up to have additional stock.
The update will also add new Daily Trials which promise to make "wild changes to the game's mechanics" and offer rewards in exchange for completing various challenges. Just like with the free update that came alongside Jungle Awakens, we also expect more balancing changes, fixes, and general improvements to come to Minecraft Dungeons as well.
Finally, Minecraft Dungeons is getting a physical release in retail stores! Fans of physical game copies can rejoice, as they'll be able to get their hands on physical copies of Minecraft Dungeons for the Xbox, PS4, and Nintendo Switch starting September 8, 2020. Fans in Japan will have to wait another month due to production issues. The physical copies will be the Hero Edition, so they'll include the Jungle Awakens and Creeping Winter DLC right out of the box!
