Minecraft for Xbox gets huge free update with new blocks, mobs and more

Minecraft gamers who play the mega-popular sandbox game on consoles like the Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be able to download a huge free update later today. The 1.8.8 update will add in new blocks, mobs, potions and more to the game.

Here's what developer Mojang has to say about the Minecraft console update:

"Add all-new blocks to your creations with Granite, Red Sandstone, Prismarine and Slime, in addition to beautiful gardens of Blue Orchids, Sunflowers, Tulips and more. Interact with Rabbits and Salmon in the new biomes, like the Redwood Forests of Mega Taiga, Roofed Forest or the Deep Ocean. Venture to the subaquatic Ocean Monuments and use your Potion of Water Breathing for new adventures with the Elder Guardians. All this and much more for you to Create, Play and Explore!"

The update also includes a new tutorial world to that shows out the new content could be used in Minecraft.
