Out This Week on Xbox One: Resident Evil, Saints Row: IV, and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell

The holiday season is over which also means, playtime is over! As of last week many of us are back to school, while a lot of us have long been back at work. This also means that developers are back to work and the video games will once again start to roll out. This week we have two remastered games heading to the Xbox One.

First up we have the HD remastered remake of Resident Evil to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Then, we have Saints Row IV: Re-elected, which will be the first time the franchise lands on next-generation systems.

Resident Evil

The origin of evil

As many of you may know, Resident Evil was the pioneer of the survival horror genre when it launched back in 1996. I remember being a young kid at the time and being deathly afraid of even watching someone attempt to play the game. Now here we are again 20 years later ready to take on the mansion once again, but with the best graphics to date.

The game takes you back to the Umbrella Corporations, zombie infested mansion, and has you play as either Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine. The game has been fully revamped graphically and runs at 1080p 30 fps. In addition it has also been remastered aurally with Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

The game retains some classic features as well as adding some new takes on them. One such feature is that you can play the game in its original 4:3 ratio or play it in the new 16:9 widescreen mode. There is also the classic control scheme which remains for fans of the original play style or you can choose alternative scheme where the character moves in the direction of the analogue stick.

Resident Evil HD (or REmake) invades the Xbox One this Tuesday, January 21 for $20.

Saints Row IV: Re-elected & Saints Row: Gat out of Hell bundle

Open world over-the-top chaos

Saints Row IV: Re-elected is last year's version of the game with all the DLC and native 1080p graphics for Xbox One. Saints Row IV is some of the best fun you'll have in a open world game as it doesn't take itself too seriously. Some of the DLC included has you rescuing Santa Claus, while another gives you a Dubstep Gun that plays dubstep music while shooting lasers.

The game also comes with the new Saints Row expansion, Gat out of Hell. This has you playing as Johnny Gat as you try to stop Satan himself from having the leader of the Saints marry his daughter. The game takes place in hell and features some awesome weapons based upon the seven deadly sins.

This bundle comes with both games for the price of $49.49 or you can buy them both separately. Saints Row IV: Re-elected will cost you $29.99 while Saints Row: Gat out of Hell goes for $19.99.

Saints Row IV: Re-elected & Saints Row: Gat out of Hell jumps onto Xbox One on Tuesday, January 21.

  • Haven't played it yet but it looks like loads of fun! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Hopefully it's good. I preordered then immediately felt guilty. Haha.
  • Played on my desktop..Definitely one of my favorite games especially when you upgrade most of the powers..!!
Just the 'everytime' dark/night theme bothers me..!!
  • Same here, I had a blast unlocking most of the achievements. Don't think I can justify buying it on Xbox one though.
  • I can't wait for midnight tonight for resident evil! I remember buying a gamecube for this game when I heard it was being remade and couldn't believe how amazing the graphics were and even more amazing that it was graphics coming from a GameCube.
  • Imo Sunset Overdrive hits that outrageous, non-caring carnage spot Saints Row was going for, without the forced, cringe humor.
  • I 100% agree with this Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Its a shame there is no cross buy option for Resident Evil like on the PS3/4. Still I might pick it up tonight.
  • If anyone is looking for Gat out of Hell on PC, Gamestops website has a sale for 5$. I would suggest hopping on that before it releases. I know I did.
  • Just Googled it, it was a pricing error. Great.
  • If you downloaded SR:IV on 360 are they discounting on XBONE?
  • Yeah! The Original Resident Evil in HD. Love that series.
  • As the pioneer of the Survival Horror genre, while Resident Evil is prominent, it was preceeded by and takes after the true pioneer, Alone in the Dark (1992).
